person using calculator On September 23, 2017, we released a new wage reporting application behind the my Social Security portal. Now, people who receive Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) benefits and their representative payees can report wages securely online.

It’s faster and easier than ever before for SSDI beneficiaries and their representative payees to report wages; they can avoid visiting a field office to report their wages in person and they can print or save a receipt of their report.

When you sign up or log in to your my Social Security account, you’ll have access to this application on your desktop, laptop, and mobile device. After you report your wages online, you can save or print a copy of your receipt.

This service will be available for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients in the future. SSI recipients should continue to report wages through SSA Mobile Wage Reporting, SSI Telephone Wage Reporting, or by visiting a local field office.

We’re constantly expanding and improving our services to put you in control of your time by providing them when, where, and how you need them. You can learn more about this new wage reporting service here.

i am extremely upset. the ssi wage report app doesnt work. i have had to wait hru the phone system for two hours, only for it to get my voice info wrong twice, hang up on me twice, then tell me to go online (where you cant do anything online!) tried to get a person and it said it would call me back in two more hours. im in tears now trying not to have panic attack. i just want to tell them i earned $0 (not happy about that in the first place) im desperately trying to follow the rules!! the slow redundant useless talking on the automated service, is the most frustrationg thing i have had to endure in some time and i am a fulltime caregiver (i clean poop all day)

I AM 67 AND RETIRED EVERY ONCE AND A WHILE I WORK A WEEK FOR OLD EMPLOYER MY QUESTION IS DO I HAVE TO PAY SOCIAL SECURITY AND MEDICARE WHEN I,M ALREADY ON THEM

    • Ray F.

Thank you for your questions John. Current law, requires that everyone working in covered employment or self-employment regardless of age or eligibility for benefits must pay Social Security and Medicare taxes. Also, some people have to pay federal income taxes on their Social Security benefits. This usually happens only if you have other substantial income (such as wages, self-employment, interest, dividends and other taxable income that must be reported on your tax return) in addition to your benefits.
For further income tax questions, you will need to contact the IRS. Their toll-free number is 1-800-829-1040. Thanks!

I have been trying to input my April wages for my son who is on SSI since the first week of May. I have not been able to use the MWR or TWR. I called the local office and was told I would have to take he paystubs in. It very difficult and inconvinient. SSA should find a way to ensure people can use the MWR and TWR with no problems. Both systems say they cannot locate me. I am trying to meet my reporting responsibilieis and I am not ale to.

    • Kenny O.

In the meantime, you may send in your pay stubs or bring them to your local field office. Here is information to locate your local field office: http://ow.ly/n4Iz3063xGK. I have visited this website and tried to use this tool on three separate occasions and it still does NOT work. PLEASE fix it. Because I am working, I can not contact anyone during work hours to get assistance with it. I also can’t take time off to go wait in line again at the field office location.

    • Ray F.

Hi Terri, individuals receiving Social Security disability (SSDI) benefits and their representative payees may use my Social Security to report wages online. Using their own my Social Security account, representative payees can report wages for any beneficiary they represent who works and receives Social Security Disability Insurance benefits.
This service is not currently available to people who receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or Social Security retirement benefits. However, if you are receiving SSI, you can still use the automated toll-free SSI Telephone Wage Reporting system or the free SSI Mobile Wage Reporting smartphone app.
Please call our toll free number at 1-800-772-1213 for further assistance. Representatives are available Monday through Friday, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Thanks!
