Stretch the DayIt’s the summer solstice, longest day of the year. You have more time to accomplish all the things on your to-do list. Unfortunately, you can’t say the same for the days to follow.

With busy schedules and constant multi-tasking, it seems like everyone is juggling the multiple chores and obligations of everyday life. That’s why Social Security created a suite of online services.

The best way to accomplish your business with Social Security online is by creating a personal my Social Security account. Easy, convenient and secure, a personal my Social Security account gives you immediate access to your individual Social Security information. During your working years, you can use your personal my Social Security account to view your Social Security Statement to check your earnings record. Are you already receiving benefits? You can use my Social Security to get a proof of benefits letter, change your address or phone number on our records, start or change your direct deposit, and check your benefit and payment information.

In addition to using my Social Security, you can use the Retirement Estimator to plug in different numbers, retirement dates, and scenarios to help you decide the best time for you to retire. In addition, when that time comes, you can apply for retirement benefits online. It can take as little as 15 minutes from start to finish. In most cases, once you submit your electronic application, that’s it, you’re done—no papers to sign or documents to submit.

From getting the skinny on how to get a replacement Social Security card to an online application for disability benefits, using Social Security online services allows you time for other things. Now you can use the extra hours to go grab some ice cream and enjoy the beautiful summer sunset.

Why are you delayed so much? Staffing is not considered an adequate or logical excuse unless you have reported this to your Quality Control, Logistics and other Higher Level Offices. As a DAV Federal Manager with 40 years experience, I can honestly tell you that I would clean house and make your service efficient even if that meant terminating over 35% of your current staff including management. I am “Old School” and an autocratic manager. This is what we do! We do not beg subordinates to perform their jobs. They are simply warned for inefficiency and then terminated!

Again, why can’t you respond to my numerous request over the past 3 + months to update my account and be interviewed for benefits? I am a 63-year-old DAV permanently disabled by the Federal Government through OPM effective March 2009. I demand a reply ASAP! I have earned this right and demand to be treated with dignity and respect or you will be investigated by the US Congress, Senate, CFPB and the Attorneys General Office. Understood?

Unfortunately and because of security reasons we do not have access to personal records in this blog and cannot update your account. One of our representatives should be able to assist you and answer all of your questions. Please call our toll free number at 1-800-772-1213. Representatives are available Monday through Friday, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Generally, you will have a shorter wait time if you call later during the day, or later in the week, thanks.

I applied online for social security benefits. I received an automated response to call 1-877-772-3794. When you call this number, it gives you a menu that leads to an automated response of “the line is busy, call later” I called 148 times. What do I do next. If I never get through to anyone, I will not get my benefits.
I am crying and screaming at the same time.

    • Ray F.

We apologize for the difficulty you’re having when trying to reach us by phone, Deborah. Unfortunately, but for your security, we do not have access to personal records in this blog. However, the telephone number that you provided is correct and it appears to be working properly. Please keep in mind that sometimes we experience higher than normal call volume. What is the average timeframe to receive auxiliary benefits for a child on my SSDI. Application filed 67 days ago and all my paperwork states would be done processing within 60 days, but normally only takes a few weeks. We haven’t gotten any calls stating more info needed

    • Ray F.

We apologize for the long wait, Roger. The length of time it takes to establish benefit payments on an auxiliary/dependent’s claim, can vary depending on different issues. For security reasons, we do not have access to information about your account in this venue. In your situation, please contact the office that is processing the claim, to check the status. If you are unable to visit the office, please call our toll free number at 1-800-772-1213 and speak with one of our agents. Representatives are available Monday through Friday, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
We care about our customers and are working as fast as we can. We thank you for your support and understanding.

      • Roger E.
