you know where to find usFor 80 years, Social Security has been there for you and your family when you need us most. And, finding us at our field offices, where you can speak with an employee face-to-face, is easier than ever!

Our handy Field Office Locator is accessible from your computer and mobile device. On the website, you can enter your zip code to find the address, phone number and hours of the Social Security office closest to you. You can also use this tool to see a map and get directions; if you’re on your mobile device, it will even give you turn-by-turn directions.

Since you are already online, you could skip the traffic and lines by taking advantage of our other online features, too. Check out What You Can Do Online, where you’ll find that many of our services are just a click away!

For example, you use the Retirement Estimator to estimate future benefits, apply for Social Security benefits online and sign up for a personal my Social Security account. Setting up a personal my Social Security account is convenient and secure. You’ll have access to your Social Security Statement, and if you already receive benefits, you can view and print your verification letter and manage your benefits.

Some people prefer doing business in person, though, and that’s why our offices are there! Our employees are passionate about providing you with the best service possible, and we’re proud of our long history of doing so. When you visit us, whether in person or online, we’re always ready to help!

  1. William P.

can I “walk In” to get assistance for filing my social security retirement?

    • A.C.

Hi, William. Some of our local offices do offer walk-in appointments; however, these appointments are on a first come, first serve basis. You can call our toll-free number at 1-800-772-1213 and speak to a Social Security representative between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, to schedule an appointment with your local office. An appointment is not required, but if you call ahead and schedule one, it may reduce the time you spend waiting to speak to someone. We hope this helps.

I have been trying to sign up for social security benefits on line but something is wrong. I wanted to receive benefits as of September 4, 2019–as I turned 68. How can I do this? My application reentry # is 22721376.

I had to order a new card, paid the fee, but have not received it yet. It has been several weeks.

  5. SBrinch

I need the phone number of the local office, not the national number

  6. Neil B.

I need form CMS-1763. thank you.

    • L.A.

Hi Neil. We do not offer form CMS-1763 online. If you wish to terminate your enrollment, a signed request for termination and a personal interview is required. You will have to go to your local Social Security office, and we will help you submit a signed request for termination or Form CMS-1763. We hope this helps.

I sent checks to Social Security Administration to the PO Box in Philadelphia they had on a form letter. I paid because I made too much money last year. But the checks are still out there, and I called, and the lady said she had no idea. How long does it take for you guys to cash checks? I do not want to wait forever as it will certainly affect my benefits.
