you know where to find usFor 80 years, Social Security has been there for you and your family when you need us most. And, finding us at our field offices, where you can speak with an employee face-to-face, is easier than ever!

Our handy Field Office Locator is accessible from your computer and mobile device. On the website, you can enter your zip code to find the address, phone number and hours of the Social Security office closest to you. You can also use this tool to see a map and get directions; if you’re on your mobile device, it will even give you turn-by-turn directions.

Since you are already online, you could skip the traffic and lines by taking advantage of our other online features, too. Check out What You Can Do Online, where you’ll find that many of our services are just a click away!

For example, you use the Retirement Estimator to estimate future benefits, apply for Social Security benefits online and sign up for a personal my Social Security account. Setting up a personal my Social Security account is convenient and secure. You’ll have access to your Social Security Statement, and if you already receive benefits, you can view and print your verification letter and manage your benefits.

Some people prefer doing business in person, though, and that’s why our offices are there! Our employees are passionate about providing you with the best service possible, and we’re proud of our long history of doing so. When you visit us, whether in person or online, we’re always ready to help!

My information could not be located online using my social security number. I really don’t understand why. I am 72 years old and have had my social security number for most of my life. This is unacceptable since I have been working most of my life and I am receiving monthly checks.

Where is the nearest SS office? I need an in person visit or appointment to figure out my Medicare application. I moved recently from Canada to the Big Island of Hawaii, as a snowbird. I have my coverage in Canada but not here. I sent info to health care .gov from Vancouver, BC, back in August or September. I sent documentation as requested online (if it went through to the right place) and duplicate hard copy from here in HI last week.
The online resources do not seem applicable to me and do not help.

I now live in Kamuela, HI, zip code 96743

    Thanks!

Can my ex-spouse collects SS benefits from my benefits even if I do not start collect yet? We were married for more than 10 years and I will start collecting
    September 2020.

    • L.A.

Hi Stuart. To be eligible for divorced spouse benefits, you and your ex-spouse have to be age 62, and she cannot be eligible for a higher benefit on your own record. You do not have to have filed for benefits, but, again, both, you and your ex-spouse have to be age 62. For more information about divorced spouse’s benefits, please visit our Benefits Planner: If You Are Divorced. For specific questions about your case, please call our toll-free number, 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778), Monday through Friday, between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. We hope this information helps.
