All local Social Security offices will be closed to the public for in-person service starting Tuesday, March 17, 2020. This decision protects the population we serve—older Americans and people with underlying medical conditions—and our employees during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. However, we are still able to provide critical services.

Please read our press release to learn more, including how to get help from the Social Security Administration by phone and online. You can also visit our website to learn more and stay up to date.

Only working people will receive the $1000.00 . I’m disabled and it’s the worst job I’ve ever had ?. T showers, washing clothes, sorry but just wiping my rear end is a job! Do we deserve a $1000.00 I don’t know but people who are getting SSI checks for $1000.00 or less each month should because I don’t see how they make it each month. I had a great job so I receive $2100 plus each month and had to completely change my life style. If I get it or not I’m ok but I hope others who really need it . Good luck to you all. ❤️

I’m on ssdi and I get way less than 1000 a month. It’s a struggle.

    • Beth

If I got 1200 a month I would be ok. Y’all think being dissabled is great.
      Guess what
I spent rent money on food and taxable cause I only get 783 ss and 100 food.
I won’t get no help. It’s all about those who already have a heap in taxes coming back.
Not only is there a pandemic now I’m more than likely gonna be home less. 🙁

Why would you come on here and lie to people? Saying that ONLY working people will get the check? Number 1: not one word of the bill has been written so nobody can say ANYTHING about who would be left out. Also this is a stimulus bill mixed with money to back people up in case they or a child in their family gets sick, or other hardships that may befall the American people over the next year unroll there is a cure. I see people on here saying stupid things like, ” the stimulus is only for people who might lose their pay”, or that , “the 2008-2009 stimulus rules will apply”. Both of these things are utterly false. Disabled Americans may get sick as well by this virus and dissabled Americans on a fixed income spend money into the economy faster that ANYONE…. WHICH IS THE POINT OF A “STIMULUS” CHECK. Unemployment will be separate and that will be solely for Americans who might lose their weekly pay. But the stimulus will be targeted to those who will spend it fastest. They are also sending 50 billion to increase food stamps even though food stamp money isn’t expected to stop, the point is to increase food assistance to stimulate the economy. Mitch McConnell said on national TV that retirees and disabled Americans will be apart of the stimulus checks. So for everyone trying to post negative stuff about people on SSI, YOUR NOW IN CHECKMATE.

where can i find this i have not seen any relief for the disabled,

        • Lildarlin

Trump is giving this to all of us. We are not being left out. we will get out stimulus check on top of our monthly SSDI or SSI

    • Tom

Not according to what was said today, sir.

Today, Mitch Mcconnell spoke on the Senate Floor to the American people and SPECIFICALLY said: ‘seniors’ and ‘disabled Americans’.

    • Skylar

      What are T showers?

  2. Ryan D.

Mitch McConnell just said in the press briefing that retirees and disabled Americans will be apart of the stimulus checks going out so the answer is YES.

    • Dave

Should you file your ssi with the irs

  3. CKJR

LAST TIME THEY SENT OUT CHECK DURING THE BUSH ADMIN NOONE ON SSI GOT ONE AND ANYONE ON SS OR SSDI GOT HALF OF THE 600 EVERYONE ELSE GOT NOT SURE IF THIS HELS U CAN GOOGLE IT AND SEE THAT FOR YOURSELF.

    • samuel y.

That was during the Obama administration and it was based on earned income stuff off tax returns it was a screwed up stimulus that didn’t work or help ssi recipients or our economy. I truly hope they learned a lesson from that . The only way a stimulus is gonna work is if all the working population receives wages and ssi / ssd get help with there extra financial needs . All should receive it far as I’m concerned . Seniors struggle on a normal basis , now is the time they really need our help !!!

        stfu

  4. Monica

    Thank you

  5. Debby

You would think, if you don’t pay taxes, that you have no income and need whatever stimulus is out there. Living on SS isn’t exactly a rich life. Seems simple, so for sure I’m wrong.

  6. SHELLEY &.

HI. I WAS JUST WONDERING ABOUT MY SISTER. SHE RECEIVES SSID, 2 DIFFERENT TYPE CHECKS, BECAUSE THE STATE OF WA. GIVES HER EXTRA MONEY AND FOOD STAMPS.. SHE IS ONLY IN AMERICA FOR ABOUT A MONTH OR SO AND THE REST OF THE YEAR . SHE LIVES IN , PUERTO ESCONDIDO, MEX. DOES SHE GET ANY STIMULUS MONEY?

  7. Pennybrad

Will seniors who don’t file tax returns (they don’t have to after a certain age) get a stimulus check? And if a couple files a joint return, do they each get a check?

  8. Carmen g.

Will I get a check from ghb government if dont file taxes

    • Ryan D.

Yes you will. Mitch McConnell said that retirees and disabled people will get the check

      • Disabled P.

Can we trust Mitch McConnell or any politician? I mean i’d like to believe we’re all going to get $1000 or $2000 or SOMETHING, but how can you trust these politicians?

In the end, we’ll get or won’t get based upon what they finally vote and pass on as the stimulus check bill.

        • Ryan D.

Because Mitch McConnell and every Republican are so ideologically opposed to direct cash stimulus to working class and fixed income people that if he is saying it on national TV than he has to 100% serious. He said that retirees and disabled Americans would be apart of the stimulus cash checks and food stamp increases. This tracks with what democrats are pushing for and what Trump is pushing Republicans to do. In the end, they will do anything to keep the economy alive because this is a presidential election year. They can not afford to leave out disabled Americans or seniors who are on social security. They also understand that infusing cash into the hands of people on fixed incomes is the quickest way to get money moving through the economy. He had absolutely no reason or upside to lie about that.

        • Jason

You get zero, if your only income is SSI and you didn’t file a federal IRS tax form.

  9. Kimberly A.
