A COVID-19 Update from Our Commissioner

I want you to hear directly from me how the COVID-19 pandemic is affecting our services. The first thing you should know is that we continue to pay benefits. Be aware that scammers may try to trick you into thinking the pandemic is stopping your Social Security payments but that is not true. Don’t be fooled.
To protect you and help stop the spread of this coronavirus, we cannot accept visitors in our offices at this time. There are several other ways you can get help. Many services are available online. If you have a critical need that you cannot address online, we can help you over the phone.
Please visit our website to find out what services we are continuing and which ones we are suspending, how to contact us, and important information about deadlines we are extending to ease the burden on you and medical providers during this pandemic.

I receive SSI and by the time i pay my bills (I have no credit cards) i’m lucky if i have $100 dollars left for the whole month. I do receive some food stamps but it does not last the month, so i end up using the cash i have to try to make it through the month. That stimulus check would greatly be appreciated since the price of food and and other essentials are increasing. I worked from age 16 until 55 when i became disabled, i am not looking for a handout, just a little help. May God keep us safe during this terrible time.

Dispite what the critics say you will get a check I suggest you try to be smart and manage it correctly that way when the next stimulus check comes out in may 18th you should have 1000+ saved up

Most people here aren’t getting 1k checks, they are excluded. Most of them, were hoping for 200 more monthly. Which I never see happening

600 dollars on the 6th and on the 18th of May if they do not agree with the 200 increase until the end of 2021 .. either way we will not be left out like some of the heartless people in this thread is hoping for

There you fools go again. Fox news is the only news network. They tell the truth and trump haters who believe hillary was going to win lost their F—-ing minds. We had 8 years of Obama who hated this country and did absolutely nothing to help this country besides giving 1.5 billions to the country that wants to kill every single person in America. He lied about benghazi and imprison some poor white guy who made a video that had nothing to do with the killing of those 4 hero’s. Translation is he will cover up all the crimes he committed. Can’t think of anything else they did. Besides made this country hate each other again. Every single time there was a problem King Obama will instantly blame the Police Officer’s that was only doing their jobs. There is no doubt about it he is responsible for the killing of 5 Dallas Police officer’s. I will bet my life that obama had the questions to the 2nd. and 3rd. debates against romney. All you have to do is look at the 1st debate and watch obama look like a jack-ass not knowing anything about simple questions. He was a deer in head lights the 1st debate. The 2nd. and 3rd he was a different person. He was so ready to answer the question I knew right away the Dems. are a bunch of scam-bags. Oh yea how can we forget about the afford care act which was nothing but a lie to all of America, This was one of the biggest lies ever told to the American people. One more thing, why do you think he’s been hiding the last 3 years. He is so illegal and expected Hillary to win and she would of cover up the crimes of his administration. But no one expected the Donald to win, but he is a winner and the dems still don’t understand the American people are going to put him back in the oval office for 4 more years. Love and peace is what we need right now and our Prisident is working hard to achieve this for all American’s.

I never said anything about that stuff. I’ve watched both networks and they are both politically motivated and they both lie because of that. But depending on who is in office I will watch the opposing networks because I guarantee you aren’t hearing the truth on Fox these days…yeah Fox the network that as I seem to recall also led me to believe Romney was going to win in. 2012. I supported Trump in 2016 but withdrew it after I’ve seen how dishonest he is. Worse than the usual politicians even.
All I’m saying is this outbreak is a hell of a lot worse than they are telling us on either end of the spectrum and it doesn’t matter if you believe that or not because in time it will be the irrefutable truth.

Exactly we can’t and now with this pandemic I’ve noticed price gouging going on at my local stores as well as ppl online that cleared the shelves of toilet paper selling it for 10 dollars a role this affects all of us we should all be getting help

Seeing all of the comments I’ve read here just confirms what I’ve always known to be true of people in general. People are always, and without exception, whether they admit it or not, jealous of people who have more than they do. The mere idea of someone who already has more than they do getting some more for free simply enrages them. Someone who already has more than they do who will be getting more for free when they won’t be getting as much, is someone to be truly hated.
I also know that there is no way to give anything away, much less money, without some people getting angry about it because their idea of doing it fairly won’t line up with how it’s actually being done.
Therefore, let’s make everyone happy and sign a petition to have Trump forget about giving any of us any money whatsoever. How about that? Or if he does end up giving us some money anyway, just write a check back to the government with a letter explaining how you felt it just wasn’t fair. How about that? Or can we simply forget about what anybody else is getting and appreciate anything at all that we each receive and be grateful.
I’ve been living on Social Security disability for 12 years now and I know how challenging it is to make ends meet compared to what I used to make before I became disabled, but I’ll not begrudge a anyone a penny of this stimulus if we end up getting it because if we waited on the government to come up with a fair way to hand out money to who needs it and who doesn’t, this crisis would be long over, and they would realize that we then didn’t need the money anymore, and then nobody would receive anything at all.

Hi, Rose. We understand there have been reports about the possibility of additional government payments to individuals due to the economic effects of the Coronavirus. At this time, no law has been passed that calls for Social Security to issue any new payments. We hope this helps to answer your question.
