BREAKING NEWS ON MSNBC THAT WILL CALM EVERYONE HERE DOWN EXCEPT THE TROLLS:

Senator Tammy Baldwin 2:39 PM 3/23/20

“One of the early debates in the negotiation was whether we would cover some of those most vulnerable people and I think we’ve made a lot of progress as Democrats to make sure that people who are in very vulnerable situations will be eligible……we will have challenges but we’re going to work through those to get checks in the mail to those who are eligible, assuming we get that in the final package, for example, people SSI and SSDI.”

Yeah this is all very normal for me too. I am on ssi people…… i don’t have a car, or go out because I can’t afford to. i’m always home! this dream talk of us getting extra money……. ?? hahaha please. it will hurt you more in the long run. getting used to the extra money, and then take it away? it will hurt, don’t say that it won’t. I am doing okay. I do wish they would just add a little bit for the deliveries I am forced to pay for now. Thats not in the budget, and shouldnt be either. Those are luxuries, that we are now forced to do.

I admit, a bit extra would be nice to help me catch up on my property taxes. Unfortunate there is no help for low income so I struggle to pay that and a car payment since there is no bus service in my area, even my car payment is for a crappy old car. Ugh… just to get ahead a bit would be nice but I do agree… it would suck once they take it away.

      • Mark

Have you checked with your county assessor office to see if you can file for a property tax exemption

        • Just M.

I have and that doesn’t exist in my area… I’ve called them all and nothing. All we have is the homestead act which is reducing it by $240 which is great but still a lot more to pay on.

What I’m seeing from this site is some changes have been made, this wasn’t always the case or am I missing something????

Under the CARES Act, there is no minimum tax liability or income to receive the full $1,200/$2,400. Also, in the prior version, the taxpayer was treated as if he or she had overpaid an amount equal to the credit in 2018 (as opposed to 2019 in the CARES Act) or, if the taxpayer had not yet filed his or her 2018 tax return, 2019.

What is happening? democrats blocked the package? but did the package include us on ssi? i can’t believe that.

    • TPhoarder96

They’re blocking CEO pay, stock buybacks and layoffs, not stimulus money for workers. Only 3 democrats are calling for expanded benefits, and even I’m pretty sure it’s just for veterans and SSDI retirees over 65, not SSI or disabled under 65.

      • penny

Oh okay, so SSI is not included in any of the package. I was confused. Ty for your reply

        • Well...

Right now no one has a clue what’s going to happen.

          • Mark L.

If they felt this was that important, it would have been settled by now. Tired of waiting, hoping and caring. SSI and RETIREES are not getting anything simply because their incomes are not being lost. Sure the xtra would be great right now, but quit kidding yourselves here.

          • Nobody

especially if you don’t read about what’s happening

          • Well...

Oh I absolutely agree… No one on SSI is getting a penny, which is fine by me. For once I’m actually doing better then most of the population 🙂 It just amazes me how I see soooo many people complain they can’t live on $1,200. HELLO!!!! I live off of $783… I don’t have a life so even this staying home is normal business for me lol

        • A.C.

Hi, Penny. We understand there have been reports about the possibility of additional government payments to individuals due to the economic effects of the Coronavirus. At this time, no law has been passed that calls for Social Security to issue any new payments. We hope this helps to answer your question.

  8. Who k.

So I tried to read the Pelosi stimulus but I admit that’s just way to much for me lol I haven’t much of a clue. I did see about the economic stimulus but couldn’t find who was eligible.

  9. The B.

Part of the holdup is large corporations want stock buybacks from stimulus money.

  10. T.K.

Nothing they proposed was set in stone. Do not spread lies that we will get $600 twice, or even once, if we don’t get 200 dollars more a month. Nothing said was ever a promise, they were proposals.
