you know where to find usFor 80 years, Social Security has been there for you and your family when you need us most. And, finding us at our field offices, where you can speak with an employee face-to-face, is easier than ever!

Our handy Field Office Locator is accessible from your computer and mobile device. On the website, you can enter your zip code to find the address, phone number and hours of the Social Security office closest to you. You can also use this tool to see a map and get directions; if you’re on your mobile device, it will even give you turn-by-turn directions.

Since you are already online, you could skip the traffic and lines by taking advantage of our other online features, too. Check out What You Can Do Online, where you’ll find that many of our services are just a click away!

For example, you use the Retirement Estimator to estimate future benefits, apply for Social Security benefits online and sign up for a personal my Social Security account. Setting up a personal my Social Security account is convenient and secure. You’ll have access to your Social Security Statement, and if you already receive benefits, you can view and print your verification letter and manage your benefits.

Some people prefer doing business in person, though, and that’s why our offices are there! Our employees are passionate about providing you with the best service possible, and we’re proud of our long history of doing so. When you visit us, whether in person or online, we’re always ready to help!

I am instructed by your representative to mail Medicare Part B forms to my local office but it appears closed except for Saturdays. I would appreciate you confirming that someone can receive mail at the Stamford, CT location and handle my enrollment application. Thank you!

    • V.V.

Hi Patricia, thank you for using our blog. Please use our Social Security Office Locator to obtain the mailing address of your local Social Security office where you can mail your information. We hope this helps.

The site is not very user friendly. I created my account in 2016, have all the accurate information, and still can’t log in to my own account. It’s frustrating. If I request by mail, must I send my actual tangible Identification? What if that gets lost in the mail? What do I use to drive with, while SSA has my license to confirm who I am if they don’t take copies?

Hi. We are sorry to hear you are having difficulty accessing your personal my Social Security account. If you are still unable to access an account or encounter a problem with your personal my Social Security account, you can cContact your local Social Security office. First, realize that you may not need a replacement card. You will rarely need to show it. Knowing the Social Security number is what is important. If you are unable to request a replacement online, you may need to wait until the offices to reopen. For more information and to subscribe for updates, visit here. We hope this helps.

can you please send me the voluntary termination form for part B Medicare CMS1763

    • V.V.

Hi Gail. You can voluntarily terminate your Medicare Part B (medical insurance). However, since this is a serious decision, you may want to discuss with a Social Security representative before completing Form CMS 1763. You can call us at 1-800-772-1213 for assistance or you can contact your local Social Security office. Please look for the general inquiry telephone number at the Social Security Office Locator. The number may appear under Show Additional Office Information. We hope this helps.

This website addresses everything but what I’m looking for. I need to get a copy of my late husband’s SSA-1099 form for 2019. I’ve moved to another address and I’ve notified SS back in December 2019. I was assured that both mine and his would come to my new address, also in Spanish Fort, AL. I received mine (with old address) but I’ve not received his. I need this to file taxes for last year. Thanks.

    • A.C.

Hi, Susan. We are sorry to hear about your loss. We are sorry to hear about your loss. The SSA-1099 is mailed to the last address in our records and is intended for the spouse or executor of the deceased. If you did not receive the benefit statement, the executor will need to go into the local Social Security office with proof of death and proof of executorship. An SSA-1099 can also be given to someone receiving benefits on the deceased beneficiary’s record such as a spouse, parent, or child of the deceased. If you need more information, call our toll-free number at 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778) and ask a representative for assistance. We hope this helps.

I need to talk to someone. How do I do that

  10. ec g.

I am trying to find an address in order to send in a form so that I can get fedral taxes removed from my ss once it starts in February and there is no place in your information that gives me that .

it would be nice to have the address so that when forms need to be sent in they can be.

    thank you….

    • A.C.

Hi, EC. In order to have taxes withheld or to change the withhold amount from your Social Security benefit, you must start by printing, completing and submitting an IRS Voluntary Withholding Request Form (Form W-4V). On this form, you can choose to have 7, 10, 12, or 22 percent of your monthly benefit withheld. The Form W-4V (to withhold federal taxes from your Social Security benefits) can be returned to your local Social Security office by mail or in person. See our Benefits Planner: Withholding Income Tax From Your Social Security Benefits web page for more information. We hope this helps.
