You Know Where to Find Us (Because We Make It Easy)
Reading Time: 1 MinuteLast Updated: November 6, 2023
For 80 years, Social Security has been there for you and your family when you need us most. And, finding us at our field offices, where you can speak with an employee face-to-face, is easier than ever!
Our handy Field Office Locator is accessible from your computer and mobile device. On the website, you can enter your zip code to find the address, phone number and hours of the Social Security office closest to you. You can also use this tool to see a map and get directions; if you’re on your mobile device, it will even give you turn-by-turn directions.
Since you are already online, you could skip the traffic and lines by taking advantage of our other online features, too. Check out What You Can Do Online, where you’ll find that many of our services are just a click away!
For example, you use the Retirement Estimator to estimate future benefits, apply for Social Security benefits online and sign up for a personal my Social Security account. Setting up a personal my Social Security account is convenient and secure. You’ll have access to your Social Security Statement, and if you already receive benefits, you can view and print your verification letter and manage your benefits.
Some people prefer doing business in person, though, and that’s why our offices are there! Our employees are passionate about providing you with the best service possible, and we’re proud of our long history of doing so. When you visit us, whether in person or online, we’re always ready to help!

I’m sitting in my local branch waiting to meet with a representative. Didn’t know I needed an appointment. Now I don’t have a clue ihow long it will take. Only security personnel to ask about anything. Searching your site about how to set up an appointment, because I have the luxury of coming back, IF I can make an appointment online. Any ideas from your web team? Wasted time yesterday both on the phone and online.
This is government service as an inscrutable stone wall. I assume from lack of funding.
People will only believe that government can do something, if it’s funded and organized to demonstrates that it can.

I can’t log in to the My Social Security because you do not send me the confirmation code to my Cell phone! I can get codes from my bank, from a game account. but not from Social Security! WHY???
Not sure it will help but I need to see the Forms I turned in online for retirement! You Wonderful people at SSA wait 6 months and then claim I lied when I turned in my paperwork! So I hope you retained the forms somewhere like a “Responsible party does” , Or do I need to get a lawyer, and my state rep and senator and make it very Official???

I’d like to make an appointment to sit down and speak with a SS Retirement representative face to face. Is there a way to do this? Ive found nothing on the website. Do I just walk into a SSA office and request to speak with someone?
Thank you for your help. I have several questions I need answers as the info on the web page is a little confusing.

Hi, Elizabeth. You do not have to make an appointment to come in to our offices, but with an appointment, you will be helped before our walk-in customers. You can schedule an appointment with your local office by calling us at 1-800-772-1213 between 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, and a representative will assist you. In most cases, you can handle your business by phone. We hope this helps.

I am not wanting to start my social security until I turn 66. Which will be next year in July. I am still planning to work until then. What I understand I do not need Medicare Part B until then.
A.C.
Hi, Cindi. Thanks for your question. Generally, if you are still working and are covered under a group health plan based on that employment, you don’t need Medicare part B until you stop working or drop your health care coverage. However, you should speak to your personnel office, health benefits advisor, or health plan to see what’s best for you. To read more about whether you need Medicare Part B, click here. We hope this helps.

My brother was approved for 100% disability, because of his retirement MS refuses to pay him. Now he has been diagnosed as legally blind. So does this still mean he can’t receive his benefits?
A.C.
Hi, Jennifer. We are sorry to hear about your brother’s condition and situation. For your brother’s security, we do not have access to private information in this venue. We ask that members in our Blog community work with our offices with specific questions. He can call us at 1-800-772-1213, Monday through Friday, between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., for assistance. Generally, he will have a shorter wait if he calls later in the day. He can also contact his local Social Security office. We hope this helps.

Need plan b termination form
A.C.
Thanks for your comment, Sharon. To terminate your enrollment, we will help you submit a signed request for termination or Form CMS-1763. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) requires, when possible, a personal interview be conducted with everyone who wishes to terminate entitlement. Therefore, we do not offer form CMS-1763 online. For an interview, you can call us at 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778) 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday or go to your local Social Security office. Generally, when calling our 800 number, you’ll have a shorter wait time if you call later in the day. We hope this helps.
