you know where to find usFor 80 years, Social Security has been there for you and your family when you need us most. And, finding us at our field offices, where you can speak with an employee face-to-face, is easier than ever!

Our handy Field Office Locator is accessible from your computer and mobile device. On the website, you can enter your zip code to find the address, phone number and hours of the Social Security office closest to you. You can also use this tool to see a map and get directions; if you’re on your mobile device, it will even give you turn-by-turn directions.

Since you are already online, you could skip the traffic and lines by taking advantage of our other online features, too. Check out What You Can Do Online, where you’ll find that many of our services are just a click away!

For example, you use the Retirement Estimator to estimate future benefits, apply for Social Security benefits online and sign up for a personal my Social Security account. Setting up a personal my Social Security account is convenient and secure. You’ll have access to your Social Security Statement, and if you already receive benefits, you can view and print your verification letter and manage your benefits.

Some people prefer doing business in person, though, and that’s why our offices are there! Our employees are passionate about providing you with the best service possible, and we’re proud of our long history of doing so. When you visit us, whether in person or online, we’re always ready to help!

I need to cancel medicare part b as my husband has taken a family plan.

    • A.C.

Hi, Joan. Thanks for your comment. To terminate your enrollment to Medicare Part B, we will help you submit a signed request for termination or Form CMS-1763. The Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) requires, when possible, a personal interview be conducted with everyone who wishes to terminate entitlement. Therefore, we do not offer form CMS-1763 online. For an interview, you can call us at 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778) 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday or go to your local office. Generally, when calling our 800 number, you’ll have a shorter wait time if you call later in the day. We hope this helps.

Isabella T. Panobianco is under the age of 18 and is entitled to Social Security benefits through her retired father. Every attempt to receive the benefits has a concrete barricade. I was told that a letter was sent but we never received one. I was told that someone would call to set up a telephone conference and no one calls. I take the initiative to follow up, set dates and times with an agent and no one contacts me at the designated time. I follow up, supply all of the information again, asked to hold on and no one calls back when the line is disconnected. I went to the Freeport office, waited patiently for 50 minutes just to be told the wrong option was chosen on the Kios machine, to wait and be called again. Isabella cannot apply online. Now when I call there is never anyone available to take your call. What is one to do under the current circumstances.

Hi, Catherine. We are sorry to hear about your experience. For your security, we do not have access to private information in this venue. We ask members of our Blog community to continue to work with local offices for specific questions about their case. You can ask to speak to a manager on your next visit or call. You can also call our toll free number is 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778). Representatives are available Monday through Friday between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Generally, you’ll have a shorter wait time if you call later in the day. We hope this is resolved soon.

I would like to speak with someone in person. I want to make an appointment with someone to verify that I am receiving the maximum amount of monthly social security payment to which I am entitled. I have not been able to successfully navigate the SS web sites or to obtain appointment information. Please provide a telephone number to reach the Myrtle Beach, SC Social Security Office and obtain an appointment.

    • V.V.

Hi Melissa. You do not need an appointment. To inquire about your benefit amount, you will have to contact your local office or call our toll-free number at 1-800-772-1213. Representatives are available Monday through Friday, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

I was told by SSA that I would have to schedule an appointment to know what my benefits are since I cannot see them online BUT where on earth online can I setup an appointment? I have called twice with +hour wait time to speak to an agent? Why is this part SO difficult?

    • A.C.
