I have not received my SSA-1099 and when I go online under “replacement docs” I do not see the box to print out the 1099 as it states. There is only the option to print a replacement SS card or my medicare card.

Why would this be the case?

My wife and I have not received our 1099’s for tax year 2021. When I go online, it says I’m not earning any benefits, which is not true. I have received a paper letter telling me what my benefits are but this letter does not appear online. How often is the site updated?

  3. Kwaiting l.

Is there anyway that I can opt-out the paper copy of my SSA 1099 form?
    Thank you.

    • Ann C.

Hi, Kwaiting. Individuals and representative payees with a my Social Security account can opt out of receiving notices by mail that are available online via the Message Center, including the Social Security annual cost-of-living adjustment and the income-related monthly adjustment amount benefit rate increase. For more information, visit our Opt Out of Mailed Notices page. We hope this helps.

I have not received my benefits for the year 2021 so I can file my taxes when can I get this information

    • Ann C.

Hi, Patricia. Thanks for your question. It sounds like you are referring to the SSA-1099, tax form Social Security mails each year in January to people who receive Social Security benefits. The SSA-1099 is mailed by January 31 each year. If for any reason you do not receive your SSA-1099 in the mail by then, starting on February 1, 2022, you can request a replacement SSA-1099/1042S for Tax Year 2021 by visiting your personal my Social Security account. We hope this helps.

  9. Margaret M.

I would like to set up Fed tax deductions thru my social security online due to COVID concerns

    • Ann C.

Hi, Margaret. In order to have taxes withheld from your Social Security benefit, you must start by printing, completing and submitting an IRS Voluntary Withholding Request Form (Form W-4V). On this form, you can choose to have 7, 10, 12, or 22 percent of your monthly benefit withheld. The Form W-4V (to withhold federal taxes from your Social Security benefits) can be returned to your local Social Security office by mail. Please see our Benefits Planner: Withholding Income Tax From Your Social Security Benefits web page for more information. We hope this helps.
