   Mr Fernandez. :You forgot to tell Patrick that to actually get to speak to a SS Help Desk you have to remain on hold for up to 2 hrs. My 93 year old mother in law got a letter from SS asking her to call them. She was on hold almost 2 hrs!!!!! She said a nice man kept coming on the line telling her that someone would be there to help her “soon”. After 2 hours she hung up!!! This is outrageous!!!!!!! And there is NO excuse for a federally funded program to not have enough employees to answer an elderly americans question about what her letter from SS was about!!! Shame on you!!! I called later for her and was on hold for almost 2 hrs also and finally had to hang up. My family needed their dinner. I am outraged at this!

     Sure is!! It is said that the poor will always be with us. In this case the backlogs will always be with us. The government continues to cut/freeze SSA staff and replace it with technology expecting things to improve, they never will, get used to it.

    im so sick of social security they hardly ever give you a raise and when they do its so small and than they take it away by raising the medicare.every year my check gets smaller till one of these days i wont get anything and yet everything has gone up so much we never have any money .if this country can help everyone else what about their seniors they dont seem to care .

In the last couple of years of the Obama Administration, you received a zero raise, yet you get all partisan and blame Republicans and their rich friends in spite of the fact there are more rich Democrats in congress. Congress passed the COLA law years ago and when the law resulted in a bigger increase, no one bitched.

          If you were better informed you would know that the Republicans obstructed every budget and forced President Obama to accept a lot less. If you were better informed, you would realize there are 3 co-equal branches of government. If you were better informed you would realize BLS is given a formula to use and Congress (regardless of who is in the White House) determines which markers to use to determine inflation rates. If you were better informed, you would know that inflation was actually deflation in 09 and 10 after the Bush economy almost threw us into another Great Depression. And if you were better informed, you would realize that the GOP has been proposing a chained COLA that will make all future COLAs smaller except in unusual circumstances. But keep voting the way you do and you will continue to stay unhappy.
