I don’t have scanning app on my phone to scan QR code. I tried to down load the app, but it is asking me to pay $6.99, which I can not afford, being recipient of SSI
Please advise, if there is any other way.
Thanks, appreciate your efforts to modernize SSA systems

Not everyone is able to have a cell phone to access QR codes especially for the elderly. This does not make it convenient for some people to use this service.

I was employed when I started receiving my Full Retirement Age benefit and I paid a IRMAA (income related monthly adjustment amount for Medicare Part B (it’s double the normal amount).

I retired Jan 2022 and SSA now knows I made a small amount of money in 2022.

When will I stop paying double for Part B?

My social security payment has been suspended due to late forms. I spoke with an agent yesterday and he told me that you have the forms. I asked so i will get a check November? No it will be February he replied. That’s my only income and I have no savings. How can i get it turned on faster!?

I had a phone appointment today at 2PM. At 2:40 I stepped outside to hand my landscaper a check – and of course they called then. I need to reschedule the phone call – but how?

    • Ann C.

I called 1-800-772-1213 on September 21, 2023, prior to my full retirement age to apply for spousal survivor benefits and was told my appointment will be six months out. I called again today 10/23/2023, none of the three offices had appointments and two of them did not do walk-ins. How does one get an appointment this year to the SSA, find out what offices have walk-INS without calling the 1-800 number, and is there anyway to sign up for survival spouse benefits on-line?

    • Ann C.

Hi, Cinni. We are sorry to hear that. You cannot apply for survivors benefits online. You can ask to speak to a supervisor on your next call or visit. We hope this is resolved soon.

tell me HOW to do the scan? Use my phone? what app needs downloaded? How do I make it work? which comes first…the tool or how to use the tool or why you would want to use the tool?

    • FS

-It’s in the name: mobile refers to your phone.
-Your phone, if it’s a modern phone, has a camera. Use the camera to scan the QR code to then access a website that will open in your phone’s browser. Follow the instructions found in that website.
      – The article essentially mentions how to “make it work”.
-Which comes first: the person wielding the tool, as the tool simply serves one purpose as clearly written in the article.

PS: This was a fun reply. Thanks.
