I tried to get a ‘Real ID’ as recommended using my social security card but it was rejected because it was to old!!!!!! I was born in 1951. I have always used my original card that I received after my name was changed when I got married in 1970. I received no notice that it had to be replaced. Why is this card not acceptable for the Real ID in PA? DO I have to go the the Social Security Adm. office to get it replaced as I was directed?

When can Illinois citizens request a replacement Social Security Card on line? The local office is always filled with people with long line. It takes hours to just get the application for replacement card in.

I NEED TO REPLACE MY SONS CARDS?
A.C.
Hi, David. Generally, when applying for a replacement Social Security card for a child under the age of 18, we consider the parent(s) or step-parent with custody, as the proper applicant. Remember that knowing their numbers is what is important. You will rarely need to show their cards, but if you need information on how to obtain a replacement Social Security card, visit our Frequently Asked Questions. You will need to present documents proving your identity, your children’s identities and citizenship status (if not already established), and evidence of your relationship to, or responsibility for, your children. Also keep in mind the submitted documents must be originals. You can use birth certificates to prove your children’s age or citizenship. But you cannot use it as proof of identity. We hope this helps.
