Hi Stanley. If you get Social Security benefits (retirement, survivors, or disability) or are enrolled in Medicare, you can create a my Social Security account to change your address online.
If you get SSI, do not have a U.S. mailing address, or are unable to change your address online, you can:
•Call us at 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778), Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.; or
•Contact your local Social Security office.
If you do not receive Social Security benefits, SSI or Medicare, you do not need to change your address with us.

We apologize for the inconvenience, Judy. You are correct! You need a U.S. address to register for a my Social Security account, but you do not need a U.S. address to access our website or to file online for benefits.
We recommend that individuals living outside the United States contact their local U.S. embassy or consulate for any assistance related to Social Security programs and benefits. Also, our Office of International Operations home page provides more information to assist our customers living abroad.
In your case, you can also use the Canadian Service Area Directory to determine which Resident Office is near you. We hope this information helps!

I received an email notice from SS reminding me to review my Social Security Statement. It also said that one more step was added in June of 2017.
It said to see my statement:
Step one: Enter your usename and password. OK!
Step two: Enter the security code we send you by text message or email depending on your choice.
How do I get that number. I saw nothing of it when I tried to open my account. After 3 tries, the system cut me out for 24 hours.

Can a dual citizen of Canada and the USA register for a My Social Security online account? It is confusing to know what to provide as a US address, when the actual residence is in Canada, and the US address is only temporary while visiting for up to 6 months a year.
