“I want to provide an update to people who receive benefits from the Social Security Administration.

The Department of the Treasury (Treasury) announced on April 1 that Social Security beneficiaries who are not typically required to file tax returns will not need to file an abbreviated tax return to receive an economic impact payment. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will use the information on the Form SSA-1099 to generate $1,200 economic impact payments to Social Security beneficiaries who did not file tax returns in 2018 or 2019.

Treasury, not Social Security, will make automatic payments to Social Security beneficiaries. Beneficiaries will receive these payments by direct deposit or by paper check, just as they would normally receive their Social Security benefits.

For updates from the IRS, visit their web page.

Note for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) Recipients:

We are working closely with Treasury to address outstanding questions about our SSI recipients in an attempt to make the issuance of economic impact payments as quick and efficient as possible. We realize people are concerned, and the IRS will provide additional information on their web page when available. Please note that we will not consider economic impact payments as income for SSI recipients, and the payments are excluded from resources for 12 months.”

My adult disabled children file taxes each year and do not have back accounts. They receive their tax refund checks in the mail. Neither has received the 1st round of stimulus money. As their Rep Payee they have an account under my name that is only used for SSDI or SSI money no other money goes in this account. When can they expect to receive the stimulus payment in the mail

I didn’t receive my first stemulus check my mother tried and maybe succeeded in claiming me as a dependent on her taxes. I receive SSDI is there anyway to know if Im gonna get second one, if I do is she gonna get it where she tried to claim me? Is there anything I can do to make sure this doesn’t happen again? Where can I make sure my information is true and correct , I do think I should have gotten my stemulus check or at least notified of my ineligibility in time for me to correct it. Didn’t know I was being claimed as a dependent by my mother or anyone else. Appreciate any help in who or what website I can call or go to on line to correct it. Thank you to any help or advice you have for me…

I didn’t receive the first stimulus check because my sister tried to claim me as a dependent I receive social Security disability is there any way to know if I’m gonna get a second one and if I do is she going to get it for me where she tried to claim me

I’ve been disabled for awhile now and SSID helps so much. My only problem is that I’m a welder but I can’t do it anymore because I make too much money for SSID unless I really, really, sell myself short. Also I can only handle light duty 20-30 hrs a week. That’s sitting mostly and with little strain. I also love to cook and have plenty of experience with it but that too is excessive to me. What should I do? Anyone

  9. Michael S.

I have been trying for at least 2 years now to receive my replacement check that still hasn’t been sent out and I can’t reach anyone.
I called October 19th 2020 and was told that they’ed put a rush on it and if I didn’t receive it in 7 days back on October 29th 2020
She had asked for my banking information so it would be deposited as well
I called back on November 2nd and the lady said the computers were down and couldn’t give me any information
I just can’t get any help it’s upsetting.
