Appeal Your Non-Medical Decisions Online

You no longer need to visit our offices or call us to appeal a denial or adverse action related to your benefits. Beginning December 10, 2016, you can file an appeal online for non-medical issues, even if you live outside the United States. Examples of non-medical appeals include those for overpayments and Medicare premium rates.

The online appeals application is simple, convenient, and secure; it guides you through every step of the process. From outlining your rights to an appeal, to publications on the appeals process, a fair review of your case is right at your fingertips. The online application also lets you upload supporting documentation and save your submission.

Submitting your appeal and necessary documents online will save time and can help expedite the decision. Here are some things you’ll need when you’re ready to submit an appeal:

  • Notice date or receipt from Social Security that explains what adverse action you wish to appeal; and
  • Supporting documentation you wish to add to your request for appeal.

    I rec. your notice 12/7/18 about not paying for my Medicare supp.premium, because of to much money in my husbands saving acct. We had a bad hail storm in Wray, co. I Oct 3017 it has taken a long time for people to get the repairs done and things ordered & people to do repairs. we had the money from the insurance co. in the savings acct. and it was 17,000.00 for trailer house, car & pickup. I guess I should had it cashed didn’t know what to do anyway it stayed in savings to long before people could get to do repairs. Also since then we have purchased hearing aides for my husband & I. Paid off credit cards to. so we have less than $10,000.00 between us. So could I go back to having Medicare pay for my supp?

    My husband passed away on Dept. 19th, 2018. I was told that I would get his social security in the amount of $1420/per month, as I do get benefits as a spouse.

    I recently received a notice from SS. stating that I would receive $834.00/month. I have all the paperwork required by SS, so please inform me as to why I received this latest notice.

    I Changed my drug plan from $73.80 TO A CHEEPER ONE . from the same company.for around $25.00 are you going to change the amount taken out?

    I just received a letter (form SSA-4926-SM) in the mail . It states that my Medicare Medical Insurance is now $176.70-it was $137.00 –is this the normal increase? Also it shows I will be deducted $38.80 for Medicare Prescription Drug Plan which I have never had or elected to have. Please advise

    Hello;
    I am Darlene Trotter, XXX Ln, Waukesha, WI 53188. I visited the SSA web Site, my Account today and found out my new cost of living adjusted monthly payment goes from $718/mo to $730/mo or +1.67%, thought the new rate would be +2.8% or $738/mo. Please review your calculations and adjust if $730/mo is a mistake. Thank you very much. I would appreciate an email explanation if I am not entitled to the full 2.8%.

    Hi, my name is Michael Chukwuemeka Dike, SS#: *** – ** – ***, DOB: 09/24/1980. In the first place, I’m disabled and on SSI, and was not supposed to be ordered to pay Child support, but the Family court Judge ordered me to pay $252.00 in Child support. Initially, I didn’t pay because I thought the order won’t be enforced because of my condition and also being on SSI, but to my dismay, the order was enforced and the amount was authomatically deducted from my SSI. But, recently, Child support contacted me that my case is eligible for closure and requeted for a letter from my doctor claiming that I’m permanently disabled. I’ve since sent them the doctors letter and I’ve talked with them several times and I was informed that they’ve stopped enforcement on my case and therefore, I should be getting my complete SSI. So in essence, I’m so shocked that Social Security is not taking action as respects to the closure/non-enforcements on my case. So I am hereby appealing this decision. Thank you.

      Hello Michael. We can withhold Social Security benefits to enforce your legal obligation to pay child support, alimony or restitution. State laws determine a valid garnishment order. By law, we garnish current and continuing monthly benefits.
      You cannot appeal to Social Security for implementing garnishment orders. If you disagree with the garnishment, contact an attorney or representative where the court issued the order.
      In cases such as in your situation, you will need to go to your local Social Security office with a new court order that changes the garnishment of your Social Security benefits. We hope this information helps!

    Why should my social security benefits be deducted ? I always have my Medicare Medical Insurance since the beginning. In fact I received my new Medicare Health Insurance last September of 2018 with the new number. Why are we older people be given a hard time to get our benefits ? We worked hard for so many years and our salary has been deducted now that we are going to get there are some deductions. I don’t think it is fair for us retired people. I sent my appeal letter about this about three months ago, but I did not get a reply until now.

    I am questioning the amount I will be paying for prescription insurave in 2019. My letter states the amount as $73.20. United Health Care states my premium as $66.10. I would like to know why the difference. I was formally with Humana and now will be withh United Health Care. I already have my new insurance card and all my paper work, so I am sure of my new enrollment. If you could please let me know when this difference will be corrected, I would greatly appreciate an answer. Thank You
