Have you ever received a Social Security Statement in the mail? You know, the one that shows all the earnings you’ve had each year and how much you could receive per month in Social Security benefits when you retire? Your personal my Social Security account is secure and gives you ready access to your earnings records, Social Security benefit estimates, and printable Statements. Those who already receive benefits can view their payment history, current status, and manage their benefits.

How do I set up an online account so I can see exactly what I would receive this year at age 66 & subsequent years up to age 70?

Hello Nancy, if you need proof you get Social Security benefits, Supplemental Security (SSI) Income or Medicare, you can request a benefit verification letter online by using your my Social Security account. This letter is sometimes called a “budget letter,” a “benefits letter,” a “proof of income letter,” or a “proof of award letter.”

Hi Nancy. In order to change your name on your Social Security card, you must show us a document that proves your legal name change. If the document you provide as evidence of a legal name change does not give us enough information to identify you in our records, you must show us an identity document in your old name (as shown in our records), and another document showing your new name. See what documents you will need to change or correct your name on your Social Security card. I feel that I have been scammed. I had gotten a email about sever pain and getting help dealing with it., which I answered and tonight I got a phone call needing more Info. With the experian hack both m son’s tried to established an online account. One son keeps getting your information doesn’t match so try again in 24 hours. The information entered is accurate and we use the address on the drivers license. The other son keeps getting we can’t create an account with that ssn yet we have a social security card. Very concerned that someone has hacked both accounts and are utilizing their benefits.

Hello Patty. Although we sometimes use Equifax to help verify your identity when setting up a “my Social Security account”, Social Security never shares Social Security numbers with Equifax. Please visit our Frequently Asked Questions to read information on why you or your sons may be unable to create an account. Also, we have established a dedicated “My Social Security Hotline” to assist customers when creating or accessing their personal accounts. To reach this hotline, they can call 1-800-772-1213, after you hear “Briefly tell me why you are calling,” say “Help Desk”, and one of our representative will assist. A safer way would be to go to my social security web site. However if you out of the country you can’t access and they have a time frame for when you access your account. so much for the 21st century.
