My husband and myself are both receiving SS retirement benefits. We have changed bank accounts and I was able to make the account number change on line but cannot find a place to change my husband’s. Would his be automatically changed with my change?

    • A.C.

Hi, Paula. Thanks for your question. Unfortunately, you can only create a my Social Security account using your own personal information and for your own exclusive use. You cannot create or use an account on behalf of another person, even if you have that person’s written permission. Your husband will have to create his own personal my Social Security account. He can then change his direct deposit. We hope this helps.

Good Evening, mySocialSecurity may be under maintenance. If there could be a notice of scheduled maintenance, or temporary hours of availability- that would be helpful. Realizing this is so much to ask, but everything including the local Southern Illinois presence has exceeded expectations so far. It would cut down on user frustration and result in high scoring important user surveys that we all have to live or die by in order to get paid. Good Luck and thank you for working at this impossible job.
