For 80 years, Social Security has been there for you and your family when you need us most. And, finding us at our field offices, where you can speak with an employee face-to-face, is easier than ever!
Our handy Field Office Locator is accessible from your computer and mobile device. On the website, you can enter your zip code to find the address, phone number and hours of the Social Security office closest to you. You can also use this tool to see a map and get directions; if you’re on your mobile device, it will even give you turn-by-turn directions.

For example, you use the Retirement Estimator to estimate future benefits, apply for Social Security benefits online and sign up for a personal my Social Security account. Setting up a personal my Social Security account is convenient and secure. You’ll have access to your Social Security Statement, and if you already receive benefits, you can view and print your verification letter and manage your benefits.

The site is not very user friendly. I created my account in 2016, have all the accurate information,and still can’t log in to my own account. It’s frustrating. If I request by mail, must I send my actual tangible Identification? What if that gets lost in the mail? What do I use to drive with, while SSA has my license to confirm who I am if they don’t take copies?

First, realize that you may not need a replacement card. You will rarely need to show it. Knowing the Social Security number is what is important. This website addresses everything but what I’m looking for. I need to get a copy of my late husband’s SSA-1099 form for 2019. I’ve moved to another address and I’ve notified SS back in December 2019. I was assured that both mine and his would come to my new address, also in Spanish Fort, AL. I received mine (with old address) but I’ve not received his. I need this to file taxes for last year. Thanks.

The SSA-1099 is mailed to the last address in our records and is intended for the spouse or executor of the deceased. If you did not receive the benefit statement, the executor will need to go into the local Social Security office with proof of death and proof of executorship. An SSA-1099 can also be given to someone receiving benefits on the deceased beneficiary’s record such as a spouse, parent, or child of the deceased. Hi, EC. In order to have taxes withheld or to change the withhold amount from your Social Security benefit, you must start by printing, completing and submitting an IRS Voluntary Withholding Request Form (Form W-4V). On this form, you can choose to have 7, 10, 12, or 22 percent of your monthly benefit withheld. The Form W-4V (to withhold federal taxes from your Social Security benefits) can be returned to your local Social Security office by mail or in person.
