As an SS Retiree and a 100% disabled Veteran I met all the requirements to receive a Direct Deposit $1200 payment by the end of April, I’m still waiting! The “Get My Payment” tool states there is not enough information and they are working on the problem, or Im not eligible, thats it after 2 1/2 months of checking the TOOL, I still get no info, no payment date, the IRS hotline at 1-800-919-9835 does not connect me to a LIVE agent, just a simple recording with the same useless information for nearly 3 months! So now what???

They are issuing payments in a staggered pattern. It may take up to 20 weeks to issue all payments depending on how you will receive it. Once the payment has been scheduled, it will show information on the get my payment portal. Payments are being scheduled through September.

I have been paying a over payment debt for almost 4 years. I have never been late on a monthly payment. I received notification about a credit change to my credit report through google email 2 weeks ago. I have worked very hard to establish good credit and it has been worth it until now. The notification was a late payment. When reviewed, it was from SSA. The processing of my payments I have planned for such as, the payment will be posted to the month it is processed, keep an SSA office receipt as proof I made a payment. There are more situations and requirements which I have followed by obtaining information that should be easy to locate but it’s not to be found. When I am finally able to reach a representative, I usually receive conflicting information half of the time. I call again because it doesn’t make sense, it is incorrect and I am not at fault. After speaking with a representative, he told me that it was taking over 6 weeks to process payments and with the pandemic it was 8-10 weeks. There is a 35 day period to process a payment and I was told SSA was not notifying credit reporting agencies. When I told him I had received a late payment on my credit from SSA , he told me I was wrong. Let’s do the math. Processing is taking, let’s say 8 weeks, that’s 56 days minimum subtract 35 days and it is 21 days pass the payment date. This late notification hit my credit score 20 points. Does anyone at SSA know what 20 points means or the notification will be on my credit report for 7 years. There isn’t justification for late payments. After reading Andrew Saul update on our pandemic on April 24, 2020, it was quite late as to what was already happening. There aren’t SSA offices open to prove my diligent payments, but my credit report reflects there aren’t late payment until April 2020.This happened in April but began in February when I was receiving confirmation from SSA that I had paid, but now it states I owe twice a month. Please help me as to what I do to correct your wrong.

Hi Marion, thank you for using our blog. Your payment plan with Social Security does not involve credit agencies. If you recently created a my Social Security account, we verify your identity through an Identity Services Provider’s “soft inquiry,” but it will not change your credit score. Your report will show that Social Security made a soft inquiry. Lenders cannot view soft inquiries on your credit reports. Soft inquiries are generally removed from your credit report after 12 months. We will not make any other inquiries when you use your my Social Security account. We hope this helps.
