  2. Social Security is the greatest program in the history of the United States. It provides retirement, disability and survivors benefits for millions of Americans.
Keep up your marvelous, essential work in 2020.

  3. How can I be sure my information is secure when using the MY Social Security website? I simply want to apply for a replacement Social Security and don’t want my information compromised in any way.

  4. I noticed that on my Social Security check summary that there is a $269.49 charge that seems to appear for the last few months. Can you tell me what this charge is for?

It looks like this was carried over from last year, but not always.

    Thank you

    • You should contact SSA via phone at (800) 772-1213 or visit your local office for assistance related to your question.

Though, from the amount you gave, it looks like it could be medicare premiums. In 2019 the standard premium was $135.50. Two months of premiums would be $271 which is pretty close to the number you gave. Just a guess. Really, no one on here is going to know or have access to that information which is why should call the 800 # or visit a field office.

  5. Request you consider adding an online feature that permits a retiree to set federal income tax withholding amounts from their monthly SSA payment. (W-4). Instead we have to submit a paper copy to the local SSA Office. FYI, OPM allows W-4 withholding adjustments via their website for federal retirees.

  6. Good afternoon from overseas. Does this message mean that you have opened up access to create a “my account” by retired people living from overseas. This is probably more important for us. Hopefully, the answer is “yes”. Thanks so much!

  18. Hello Ms. Bogle,
I have “my Social Security” account which I check daily. The Message Center may be a secure, convenient portal where you can receive secure, communications, but I can not send secure communications like what I am sending to you now.
On Oct. 2, 2019, I went to the Marietta, GA Social Security Office to apply for Spouse Benefit. I turned 66 on Dec. 5, 2019, and this is my first application for Social Security.
Since my benefit application was still pending on my birthday of Dec. 5th, I went to the Marietta SS office on Dec. 9th, 2019 with all my papers. I was told nothing else was needed and that my application would be put on “high priority”.
I called on Dec. 20th – to see if there was anything else I needed to do, the SS Office said no –>still pending
    I called on Dec. 30th – pending
    I called on Dec. 31st – pending
I am greatly concerned since after Dec. 31, 2019 – I can no longer receive the Spouse Benefit after this date.
On Jan. 6, 2020, I called the Manager of the Marietta SS Office, Kay Brock and left a message asking her to return my call about my concern about my Spouse Benefit Application. I have heard nothing back.
I called today – Jan. 10, 2020 – and left a message asking the District Manager of the Marietta, GA Office to please call me back about my Spouse Benefit Application. Nothing so far.
PLEASE HELP!! How long does it take to process a Spouse Benefit Application?
Had I know it would take this long; I would have submitted my Spouse Benefit Application in August or September, but I didn’t want it to begin until my 66th Birthday on Dec. 5th, 2019.
My Spouse Benefit Application was received Oct. 2, 2019.
Thank you for any help you can provide.

  28. Hello I have received two phone calls today that I think are a scam. Asking for my social security number.
800-813-3137 and 202-324-6421. The 202 being identified as from Washington DC.
