Supplemental Security Income Recipients, Act Now – Go to IRS.gov – A Message from Social Security Commissioner Andrew Saul

Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients who don’t file tax returns will start receiving their automatic Economic Impact Payments directly from the Treasury Department in early May. People receiving SSI benefits who did not file 2018 or 2019 taxes, and have qualifying children under age 17, however, should not wait for their automatic $1,200 individual payment. They should immediately go to the IRS’s webpage and visit the Non-Filers: Enter Your Information section to provide their information. SSI recipients who have dependent children and did not file 2018 or 2019 taxes need to act by Tuesday, May 5, in order to receive additional payments for their eligible children quickly.

By taking this proactive step to enter information on the IRS website about them and their qualifying children, they will also receive the $500 per dependent child payment in addition to their $1,200 individual payment. If people in this group do not provide their information to the IRS soon, their payment at this time will be $1,200 only. They would then be required to file a tax year 2020 tax return to obtain the additional $500 per eligible child.

I urge SSI recipients with qualifying children and who do not normally file taxes to take action now. Immediately go to IRS.gov so that you will receive the full amount of the Economic Impact Payments you and your family are eligible for.

Lastly, a word of caution. Be aware of scams related to the Economic Impact Payments. There is no fee required to receive these payments. Don’t be fooled.

Why didn’t IRS use SSA 1099’s from SSDI recipients whose children may also be on Social Security under their disable parent and also get their own SSA 1099’s every year in Jan and on file with IRS give them their dependents $500 Stimulus check automatically, instead of having them enter information on IRS’s Non-filer tool online before April 22nd to receive the child payment and then turn around and not include Child’s $500 when they sent the SSDI Adult payments?? Especially if information was entered into the Non-Filer Tool before the April 22nd deadline and was accepted by the IRS?? No clear answer from IRS.gov does state that “Social Security/RRB beneficiaries who don’t normally file a tax return, have a child and registered using the IRS Non-Filer tool by the April 22 deadline, more payments are arriving this week as well.” Does that mean that we will be getting another check separate from the Adult SSDI payments already sent for Eligible Children?? Also why wasn’t this straightened out before hand with Social Security Administration that knows their our children on Social Security with their own SSA 1099’s on file with IRS?? Then to be told if missed deadline you would have to file a return next year to receive the $500 even though on SSDI and do not file returns?? If we can please get a clear answer.

    Dear Madam/Sir:

I have filed my tax returns for both 2018 and 2019, and receive my SSI online. But, I have not yet received the 1200.00 Covid-19 assistance fund. Would you kindly check into that and inform me at the following e-mail address?

    Thank You.

I am on SSDI and SSI and I went to the non filers web page and filled out all my info along with my baby boys info who is 19months old before April 22nd and I even receive an email saying it was excepted and everything and I still did not receive my payment for my child and I did everything correctly like I was told and still nothing!?!? Now I don’t think that is right or fair to fill out everything correctly and still not receive my payment!?!? Please respond and let me know what am I supposed to do? I really need that income and help now? Waiting for a response ASAP! My email is:ejuarez1111@att.net

Next time, join the up to date nation and get a bank account. Enjoy your wait.

I have a bank account, the irs, after their getmypayment tracker finally worked last week for social security recipients, initially said the amount would be deposited in my bank account. Then suddenly with no reason given it changed to a check would be mailed May 1st. Still haven’t received it, hoping this week. It makes no sense for them to send a check when they could more easily deposit it.

  10. Nicki

I just heard on you tube if you see a four digit account number that the stimulus check is being deposited in and you don’t recognize it its probably the account number to the card, not the actual card number.
