Supplemental Security Income Recipients, Act Now – Go to IRS.gov – A Message from Social Security Commissioner Andrew Saul

Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients who don’t file tax returns will start receiving their automatic Economic Impact Payments directly from the Treasury Department in early May. People receiving SSI benefits who did not file 2018 or 2019 taxes, and have qualifying children under age 17, however, should not wait for their automatic $1,200 individual payment. They should immediately go to the IRS’s webpage and visit the Non-Filers: Enter Your Information section to provide their information. SSI recipients who have dependent children and did not file 2018 or 2019 taxes need to act by Tuesday, May 5, in order to receive additional payments for their eligible children quickly.

By taking this proactive step to enter information on the IRS website about them and their qualifying children, they will also receive the $500 per dependent child payment in addition to their $1,200 individual payment. If people in this group do not provide their information to the IRS soon, their payment at this time will be $1,200 only. They would then be required to file a tax year 2020 tax return to obtain the additional $500 per eligible child.

I urge SSI recipients with qualifying children and who do not normally file taxes to take action now. Immediately go to IRS.gov so that you will receive the full amount of the Economic Impact Payments you and your family are eligible for.

Lastly, a word of caution. Be aware of scams related to the Economic Impact Payments. There is no fee required to receive these payments. Don’t be fooled.

I am a social security pensioner and automatically receive my pension each month. I don’t need to file taxes. According to both SSA and IRS, I should automatically receive my $1200 stimulus and no action is required on my part. To date, I have not receive the money. My sister have not either. Anybody out there on the same boat or with information they can share? Thanks!

Hi Vonda, can you tell me why the IRS first said that the stimulus would be deposited in my bank account, then suddenly switched to saying it would be sent as a check on May 1st? I couldn’t even use the IRS tracker till April 24th, there was no information for social security recipients. Then in the space of a week they switched to the less reliable postal service. Why? Still haven’t gotten it on May 5th. I’m hoping it is because of the weekend delay.

i need to know with being on ssi when will i get my stimulus payment…i am in rockford il and i am just wanting to know seeing as there are way too many things that keep changing…please reply

    • Peter

People ! , , social security has told me not to contact social security, ! But contact irs instead ! Irs are the one’s who distributed the eip cks so griping here about when this ? Or why i haven’t, ? does no good, and why would the people who got there’s already be on here to cuss others out? Things are messed up already for those who haven’t got it yet, if you wana cuss out someone cuss out where you live. If you got some intelligence to share on this to HELP OUT yes give it, and i do expect to be bad mouthed back.on this , god speed be with you,,

      • david

i’m in the same boat Peter, except they were supposed to deposit it in late April, instead they changed to a check method, and I still haven’t gotten the check. irs.gov has this
“It is possible that we do not have the correct bank account information for you, or your financial institution rejected the direct deposit. In either case, your payment will be mailed to the address we have on file for you.”
        it’s possible but neither happened.
It’s also possible the IRS screwed up, which doesn’t make me optimistic about their ability to get the address right, either.

  8. Steven

I’m on ssi I did not have to file taxes I get direct express card i have not gotten my 1200$$ The only thing I can think off is I did not change my address but ssi knows that I have a new address but idk if the IRS knows I don’t know wat to do…My sis chxs I get from direct express every month can someone plz help me to see wat i should do thank you

    • Jess

You should learn to fucking read.

    • tamara l.

  9. lisa h.

When will I receive my stimulus check

  10. Felicia C.

ssi is not getting it until mid may. thats the date, until they decide to push it back further again.

    • Robert C.

      How u know curiously asking

      • Felicia C.

Oh I don’t know Robert, perhaps I am not lazy and actually look for information? Its all over the place.

        • Cat

Oh I don’t know Felicia before you call people names you should make sure you know what your talking about.
Many ssi recipients, me included have gotten theirs already. Even though it did say everywhere that we would get it by mid may they started going out on the first.
Yes May 1st not mid May
Damn he only asked a question and politely at that. Have you ever heard “If you got nothing nice to say dont say anything at all”
