Supplemental Security Income Recipients, Act Now – Go to IRS.gov – A Message from Social Security Commissioner Andrew Saul

Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients who don’t file tax returns will start receiving their automatic Economic Impact Payments directly from the Treasury Department in early May. People receiving SSI benefits who did not file 2018 or 2019 taxes, and have qualifying children under age 17, however, should not wait for their automatic $1,200 individual payment. They should immediately go to the IRS’s webpage and visit the Non-Filers: Enter Your Information section to provide their information. SSI recipients who have dependent children and did not file 2018 or 2019 taxes need to act by Tuesday, May 5, in order to receive additional payments for their eligible children quickly.

By taking this proactive step to enter information on the IRS website about them and their qualifying children, they will also receive the $500 per dependent child payment in addition to their $1,200 individual payment. If people in this group do not provide their information to the IRS soon, their payment at this time will be $1,200 only. They would then be required to file a tax year 2020 tax return to obtain the additional $500 per eligible child.

I urge SSI recipients with qualifying children and who do not normally file taxes to take action now. Immediately go to IRS.gov so that you will receive the full amount of the Economic Impact Payments you and your family are eligible for.

Lastly, a word of caution. Be aware of scams related to the Economic Impact Payments. There is no fee required to receive these payments. Don’t be fooled.

    • V.V.

Hi Anne, thank you for your question. The Internal Revenue Service, which is part of the Department of Treasury, will be making Economic Income Payments to eligible people. I am on supplement security and have not received my 1200. Stimulus payment, but several others have so where is mine? I have direct express and nothing has been sent to my card.

    • Stanley D.

I am also wondering why I haven’t received mine. I am also on SSI and use the direct debit card.is there a way or a site to see. If we have been denied or do we have to just sit. Wait and suffer.

  3. Lisa H.

I draw ssi and I still haven’t got my stimulus check yet. I’m just wondering if I even get one

  4. Lisa H.

When will I get my stimulus check

  5. Selena

I recieve mine on the Direct Express Card as well and my Payee has not recieved mine either, my parents have both recieved theirs.

  6. Linda

I’m a representative of a SSI beneficiary recipient and it doesn’t even tell us how to enter their information so that they can receive does stimulus funds. He still hasn’t even received his in his account and they do not have nothing pending. You should really have some type of a link that the representative payee can enter the information , if you think about it their Direct Express Account ,is in the representative payee
name and sociall security number . Because my name’s on his card with design the representative and when I need to see information I have to give my social security number not his. So how is he supposed to receive the $1,200 from the simulus check if you don’t have the correct information that’s what I would like to know. There’s thousands of Representative payees that don’t know what to do about this because they’re the beneficiaries payee and they don’t know how to enter the information you guys did not think of this please do something about this so that they can get their funds.

I am on SS disability. My daughter (under 17) is claimed by her mother (who is not my spouse) on her tax return. She got an additional $500 on her stimulus check. Am I correct to assume that I am not eligible to receive the additional $500?

    Thanks.

    • Peter
