My brother is Medicare age. He doesn’t want to start his benefits but wants to receive his Medicare. How is the payment for part B made? Since he is not starting his benefits, how will the payment for part B be paid? Will it be taken out of his benefits or will he have to pay by payment himself?

Hello,
My name is Daniel Desmond Doyle and I’m trying to research my father’s death benefits. His name was Desmond William Doyle, born 1914 St.Paul MN. Death 3/25/1972 in St.Paul MN. Is there any way I can see his benefit, whether lump sum or monthly payout? I was 14 at the time of death.
Thank You
Dan Doyle

My mother-in-law passed away about a week ago. Can I report this online or do I need to go to local social security office to report and stop payment of her benefits. Please let me know what I should do.
Thanks

Hi, Paul. We are sorry to hear about your loss. Typically, the funeral director notifies us of an individual’s passing by sending the deceased person’s death certificate to their local Social Security office. However, you may report the death of your mother-in-law’s passing, by calling our toll-free number at 1-800-772-1213. Representatives are available Monday through Friday, between 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thanks.
