I am a former caregiver for Elizabeth B Teaster Medicare # 9DH7-MN5-QR48, who passed away on October 16, 2019, I need to know whether to send her SS check back she received on Oct. 3 2019. Thank you, please respond.

    • L.A.

Hi Carmen. We are sorry for your loss. We do not have access to personal information in this venue. Typically, Social Security benefits are paid the month after they are due. Please call our toll-free number 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778), from Monday through Friday, between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Our representatives will be able to tell you with more certainty whether or not the benefits are due to the deceased. You may also contact your local Social Security office. We hope this helps.

Can I make an appointment online?
I need to see if my children are eligible for benefits from their father.

    • L.A.

Hi Marcella. Currently, you cannot make an appointment online. But, you can schedule a phone appointment by calling us at 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778), between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. For more information about benefits for your children, you may also want to check out our publication, Benefits for Your Children. We hope this helps.

Your phone system is awful and highly frustrating; we have called several times over the past few days and no “live person” answers. Endless voice prompts that conclude with “please call back”. It is like being in a Kafka novel.

Please please please make it possible for individuals to set up appointments online, or at least implement a means to leave an automatic call-back number.

        • A.C.

Hi, WR. We are sorry for your frustration. If you still need assistance, click “Get Help” in your personal my Social Security account to “Ask a Question”. Click “Talk to an Expert” for a call back. We hope this helps.

  3. Khiem M.

I was requested to submit a 2018 Income Statement (in lieu of a W2 form, which I don’t have). How can I submit this form via email, or download it into my digital Social Security file?

    • L.A.

Hi Khiem. Good news! You can request a replacement SSA-1099 for 2018 by using your personal my Social Security account. You may save (download) it to your files, and then you will have it available for printing or any other use. We hope this helps.
