Once an disability application has been submitted online to SSA, can the client print the application from their “MY SSA acct”? I work for a disability advocate and two of our clients were unable to print their application.

Not sure if doing this correctly or in right area, but searching for info on my deceased father. Not sure if I should give out his personal info here, but need to know how to find out if he really passed away in 1999. Exhausted all avenues in trying to obtain obituary notice and/or, death notice and/or, where buried. Was told to go to Social Security local office for this info. Have my proof of being his daughter and other docs including his firm he filled out to enlist in the US Army. Tried to call local office but unable to talk to anyone that could help. If going in the right direction, can you help? Just want to find him and visit his grave, but as if stands now, I can’t even get confirmation of his death. Will appreciate any help you can offer.

Medicare sent me a card with my former last name on it. SSA has not notified Medicare of my name change.
How can I fix this without waiting 40 minutes to be helped by phone?

    • V.V.

Hi Allyson. Unfortunately, and for your security, we do not have access to your information in this venue. To inquire about correcting your name on your Medicare card, you will need to contact your local Social Security office or call our toll free number at 1-800-772-1213. Representatives are available to help you Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

I need to have federal withholding taxes held out of my ss check

    • V.V.

Hi Frances, thanks for using our blog. To sign up for voluntary tax withholding, you’ll need a Form W-4V from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). You can download the form or call the IRS toll-free at 1-800-829-3676 and ask for Form W-4V. Complete and sign the form and return it to your local Social Security office by mail or in person.

Recieving messages from a SSA SCAM. The number is a Nevada Area Code 725-333-1627. But definitely a computer generated voice. So could be coming from anywhere.
The message request to call back or your SS number will be suspended that its imperative to call.
Tried calling SSA BUT GAVE ME IDENTITY THEFT NUMBER BUT DOES NOT APPLY TO ME SINCE IVE NOT RESPONDED TO these calls.
There has to be a number to call or web page on SSA.GOV to give these phone numbers so technical support security can go after there bogus attempts to get your identity.
    Thank you.

How do you change your email address online

    • V.V.

Hi Beth, thank you for your question. After you sign in to your my Social Security account, you can update your email address. After inputting your username and password, you will be at the security code screen. If you receive your security code via email only, then indicate that you cannot access the options listed above and need to reset where you receive security codes. We will then send you a letter with a reset code and instructions.
