I needed to replace my lost Social Security card. I went online and created “my social security account”. I then entered a password which contains letter including a capital, number and finally two other characters from the upper line of the keyboard, Three time I entered this password and each time it was not accepted and informed me that I needed to do exactly what I had previously done for the password. Not happy at all which leaves me with the only alternative of telephoning the Social Security office.

Can I request a replacement card for my minor child online?

    • Ann C.

Hi, Karee. You cannot request a replacement card for a minor child online at this time. Generally, when applying for a replacement Social Security card for a child under the age of 18, we consider the parent(s) or step-parent with custody, as the proper applicant. For information on to obtain a replacement Social Security card, visit our Frequently Asked Questions. You will need to present documents proving your identity, your child’s identity and citizenship status (if not already established), and evidence of your relationship to, or responsibility for, your child. Also keep in mind the submitted documents must be originals. You can use birth certificates to prove his age or citizenship; but, you cannot use it as proof of identity. We hope this helps.

Every time I download and fill out the application for a replacement card, it prints a blank page with the SSA website only. Is there a way around this so I can complete the application?? I tested my printer and it is working properly on other applications.
