You can now apply for a replacement Social Security card online using your personal my Social Security account. If you meet all requirements and live in some states or the District of Columbia, you can start using this service today. Go to www.socialsecurity.gov/myaccount for more information.

Hi Pat, thanks for using our blog. If you’re referring to required documentation for a Social Security card, you must present original documents or copies certified by the agency that issued them. We cannot accept photocopies or notarized copies. All documents must be current (not expired). We cannot accept a receipt showing you applied for the document. Your website won’t keeps directing in circles. It won’t let me create a MY Social Security Account. I come online and search for an SS5 Form because after finally getting with an agent, he believes my personal info may have changed and I need to update that. He wasn’t able to view that, but the local Social Security office can, but they are all closed. WTH SSA??? This is ridiculous. Trying to order a replacement card is an absolute nightmare and your website is less than helpful by keeping redirecting me to “did you know you can order a replacement card through a My SS Account” seriously.
