    I need a social security replacement card I lost my name several years ago and they told me at the driver’s license place that I would definitely need one this was new to me so I am going up in a rush to get it by the 22nd of April

      Hi Terry, we prefer a government issued document with your picture, as proof of identity to replace your Social Security card. If you do not have one or you cannot get one within a reasonable amount of time, we may be able to use other documents such as:
      •Employee identification card;
      •School identification card;
      •Health insurance card; or
      •U.S. military identification card.
      Any document you submit, must be an original or certified copy, current (not expired) and show your name, and other identifying information (date of birth or age).
      Also, realize that you may not need a replacement card. You will rarely need to show it. Knowing your Social Security number is what is important.
      To see if you’re eligible to apply for a replacement Social Security card online or to learn more on the process and what documents you will need to get a card, please visit our “Social Security Number and Card” web page. We hope this helps!

  5. Annamarie S.

    i went in a social security office in August 10th 2017 and still haven’t received my new card. What do i do?

    • R.F.

      Hello Annmarie. Typically, after we receive your application and verify your documents, you should receive your replacement Social Security card by mail within 10 business days. Unfortunately, and because of security reasons we do not have access to personal records in this blog and cannot provide an explanation at this time.
      At this point, you will have to apply again. To see if you’re eligible to apply for a replacement Social Security card online or to learn more on the process and what documents you will need to get a card, please visit our “Social Security Number and Card” web page.
      In April we celebrate “National Social Security Month”, see what you can do online at http://www.SocialSecurity.gov. Thanks!

    Thank You.

    I keep trying to set up an account so I can get a replacement social security card, but it keeps saying error with my name. My name is Donald LP Schroeder on my card, but it will only let me enter one letter for middle name, that is why I think it keeps rejecting it. What do I do?

  8. Mary A.

    I entered my name, etc. to open an account and I was told to enter a valid first name. I entered my name exactly as is shown on my social card. So, what do I do now?
