Reading Time: 1 MinuteLast Updated: February 21, 2023
All local Social Security offices will be closed to the public for in-person service starting Tuesday, March 17, 2020. This decision protects the population we serve—older Americans and people with underlying medical conditions—and our employees during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. However, we are still able to provide critical services.
Please read our press release to learn more, including how to get help from the Social Security Administration by phone and online. You can also visit our website to learn more and stay up to date.

Will people receiving rsdi get the 1000 as well
Wayne S.
Fair Question, senior citizen and disabled people who are low income rely 100% on their checks , food, rent, medicine, all living expenses. We are all scared what will happen if we can’t pay for the basics, we are scared we will get evicted and be homeless and without needed medicine.

I’m on Ssa and just found out I have heart issues, I don’t get very much. It would be a godsend if I were to get money from the Govt. It’s a very scary time for me. I want to be healthy again and have the energy to go back to school. I need to be able to buy vitamin D!! Mr president..Have mercy on me and my family!!!

Within in 2 weeks we should receive $1,000 plus what we normally get every month so if I was as a sample I received $500 every month and Trump wants to give me $1,000 that means I have $1,500 is that right because American coronavirus
James
That is not correct.
Ms.jefferson
This isn’t a new idea. The United States has done this twice before. During the Great Recession, the federal government sent about every adult a $300 to $600 check (plus $300 per child). The same thing happened in 2001, when the majority of Americans received a $300 check.
In the last recession, checks went out to pretty much everyone who wasn’t a millionaire and filed a U.S. tax return, including Social Security recipients. Americans earning at least some income but less than $75,000 got the full amount, while wealthier people got less. The payments were sent by a check in the mail or direct deposit into a bank account.

What if you dont filed taxes on you rsdi will you still get it cause I never got 1 in the past
Rhonda
The truth is, we do not know, because they do not know, they are still formulating the plan to set it into motion. We can only look back at what was done in the past.
Melissa B.
Exactly. Well just have to wait and see! But everyone write your congressmen asap and remind them to not forget about us!
Jeffrey v.
Come on, you think he will give us a dang penny he used to remove him from his cloggers? We are not getting anything bc our payments are.still coming. This butter will spread This when it’s all said and done. This is also not a gift from trump, it is paid from taxes like when you work or buy something. It is hard living in 800$ budget bracket, some would say unjust or a crime against humanity. I have a severe mental illness and This is the best I can do. Ssi said corona expenses will NOT be compensated. This is to aid the holes in our economy pandemic shutdowns occur. Any info otherwise is a blessing. Remember if it comes down to it… Do what you go to do to make it through, we have been forgotten on purpose…. Take a look at these vague employees dodging the question that we deserve an answer to. Will I receive any stimulus package from trump? I’m on Medicare Ssdi?
Disgusted
You all need to get over yourselves. You are not that important in a world of billiins. To think that it is of that much importance what and how you say it is rediculous. I find it best to not respong on these sites because everyone thinks their opinion really matters. So much more can be accomplished rather than chastising anyone. This is whats wring with our society today. Think before you speak/type toprevent wasted dialogue this us why nothing gets done in this country. But h and moan nonstop
Tabitha R.
What makes you think your opinion matters because it doesn’t either and if you don’t like this kind of sit here then why do you even f****** look at it disgusted

As of 10:15 PM EST. The announcement was that no one receiving SSI would be getting a stimulus check and very few SS would be getting them because those Monies would not stop. The people we need to take care of are the ones who recently lost their jobs or signed up for unemployment due to the Coronavirus.
Thanks, James Mann. SSIDEPTH.
The problem I have with this is as an SSI recipient I already receive about a third of what a person who make minimum wage does… I am disabled elderly and unable to work, after working for years until my health prevented it.. AND just trying to stay above water during NORMAL times is hard enough let alone trying to get through this crisis. I am an american citizen who needs every bit as much and the displaced working citizens do… or maybe I count only about 1/3 as much because thats all I receive
Kari
I looked everywhere online for this did not find it where did you get this enfo from? Thank you.
Ryan D.
This is UNTRUE. the announcement by the Mitch McConnell was that retirees and disabled Americans would receive a stimulus check. Stimulus checks are NOT meant to JUST replace lost income, they are meant to stimulate more money throughout the economy. That has nothing to do with rather the payments will stop or not. If that was the case then they would call it unemployment. Another idiot trying to discourage people. Luckily mitch McConnell himself has already corrected you
Lisa
Thank you

I haven’t heard that but hope it is true, we draw very little on social security and it makes it harder on us who doesn’t have money to make ends meet… they need to make it clearer for everyone, seniors included. If we are not getting a check be clear…I have a disabled husband and social security is our only income…
Stacy L.
Thats a great answer. Thank you! Finally someone answered my question!
