All local Social Security offices will be closed to the public for in-person service starting Tuesday, March 17, 2020. This decision protects the population we serve—older Americans and people with underlying medical conditions—and our employees during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. However, we are still able to provide critical services.

Please read our press release to learn more, including how to get help from the Social Security Administration by phone and online. You can also visit our website to learn more and stay up to date.

  2. Rodney T.

    Yo momma

In 2009, all retierees and disabled people on SSI got a $250.00 check for stimulus. So YES, people on SSI will get a check. It should be more this time around. And it will be based on family size and income… Not based on whether you lost you job or not. That is what unemployment is for.

Will people on disability receive the $1,000 2020 stimulus check package also?
And if so what do we need to do to apply for it?

Joni,Cash payments of up to $1,200 would go to individuals, with up to $2,400 for couples. The sum would increase by $500 for every child. The check totals would start to phase out above $75,000 in adjusted gross income based on 2018 tax returns. People with no federal tax liability would get only $600.

Hi, Debbie. We understand there have been reports about the possibility of additional government payments to individuals due to the economic effects of the Coronavirus. At this time, no law has been passed that calls for Social Security to issue any new payments. We hope this helps to answer your question.

Dee I’d like to thank you for answering the question the way you did . I would have answered it the same way . As most people hear about a pandemic they think the worst and the possibility of losing benefits when a national emergency is declared so I appreciate your answer . However those who are giving you such a hard time perhaps you can let them know that their checks will be delayed for their ugly response to someone who tried their best to assure we will get our benefits . I do so much appreciate your work and dedication in working with people those nice and very ignorant

This is what I have found about the$1000 check. If you Google ‘social security disability coronavirus $1000 check” The business market dot com site and quiet a few others are there as well. And a link to the bill being passed around.

” During the last recession over a decade ago, government checks went out to most people as long as they had filed a tax return the previous year.

Recipients of Social Security were also eligible for the payout. People earning less than $75,000 got the full money, which was sent via mail or directly deposited into bank accounts.

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said the administration is aiming to send the first round of checks by the end of April, the Wall Street Journal reported. ”

Hope this helps. Please be safe. Always protect yourselves and your loved ones.

Will we keep the check before of the virus that’s going around today

They are going to exclude SSI and SSDI unless you all call and tell them they must include. Its you against the lobbyists. The rich want the money that would go to you. Theyre already speaking, you need to call government and tell them that you deserve it more than billionaire owned companies that PAY NO TAXES.
