All local Social Security offices will be closed to the public for in-person service starting Tuesday, March 17, 2020. This decision protects the population we serve—older Americans and people with underlying medical conditions—and our employees during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. However, we are still able to provide critical services.

Please read our press release to learn more, including how to get help from the Social Security Administration by phone and online. You can also visit our website to learn more and stay up to date.

      Sorry that doesn’t cut it.

At the 3 minute 30 second mark McConnell says they’re working on a way of putting money directly in the hands of retirees and disabled among others.

That’s not good enough until we get the official word on who and what qualifies you to receive a stimulus check.

I just don’t understand why Socual Security just doesn’t man up and answer this question and be done with it, when they already know the answer.. All the stress on people making them wait and see if SSDI or SSIis going to get a check too, is not the virus itself stressful enough. Too many people commenting back and forth from other sources is not very healthy for anyone. So when people go on National TV and say people do not worry, seriously yall, everyone is being effected by this.

I get SS and a small Pension check. Will my Pension check impact my chances of receiving a stimulus check either positive or negative?

Look everyone people like me who are on disability and people who are on ssi are not eligible for the extra stimulus money.. only people who work and that made only 65,000 or less a year get the stimulus checks… you have to do taxes and that’s what the government is going by on who gets the extra money.. so I guess people on ssi and disability dont count for being in the middle of this virus crisis.. it’s not people’s fault who are mentally and physically disabled and cant work, I think people who are in that situation deserve the stimulus money as well.. but oh well.. I knew it was too good to be true for people like me who are disabled..

I dont listen to nonsense from youtube.. no ssi and disability recipients will not get the stimulus check I did my research on it..

Since you know so much, where is that article so all can read????

      • Stefanie A.

Oh ok ok my bad I heard the senator say disabled as well.. thank you for the information

      • Lildarlin

Nope…. that was back in the bush and obama days. This has nothing to do with filing taxes. You will get a direct deposit if your payroll, SSDI, SSI, SSD check is deposted

I’m sorry, but the daycare has been closed.

IF it’s like 2008 you have to file a tax form to qualify. But it’s before the filing period so how will they know who is filing this year. Of course they announce all this with no details.

  8. NUNYA

ALL the people arguing, grow up or go to Daycare. We will ALL know something once it’s official.

    SMDH~~~

I just watched a video with Mitch McConnell talking on the Senate Floor.

At 3:20, he said: “As we speak, Chairman Grassley, and others, are determining the best pathway to put money in the hands of the American people. Those who are employed, those who are laid off, RETIREES, DISABLED AMERICANS, families – as quickly as possible.”

    LINK: https://youtu.be/zvD1LiZKTME?t=200

There was NO mention of qualifiers such as TAX RETURNS, etc. Obama’s administration sent checks to disabled and social security retirees. Trump said he wants to ‘go big’ on this. These stimulus checks are NOT intended SOLELY as a supplement to only those who were working – or are working. It’s meant to inject money – FROM EVERY DIRECTION – into an economy that is in VERY serious trouble right now. If the economy collapses, the USA collapses. Both sides of the aisle know this all too well. That’s why this money is coming.

    Yes you will
