“I want to provide an update to people who receive benefits from the Social Security Administration.

The Department of the Treasury (Treasury) announced on April 1 that Social Security beneficiaries who are not typically required to file tax returns will not need to file an abbreviated tax return to receive an economic impact payment. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will use the information on the Form SSA-1099 to generate $1,200 economic impact payments to Social Security beneficiaries who did not file tax returns in 2018 or 2019.

Treasury, not Social Security, will make automatic payments to Social Security beneficiaries. Beneficiaries will receive these payments by direct deposit or by paper check, just as they would normally receive their Social Security benefits.

For updates from the IRS, visit their web page.

Note for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) Recipients:

We are working closely with Treasury to address outstanding questions about our SSI recipients in an attempt to make the issuance of economic impact payments as quick and efficient as possible. We realize people are concerned, and the IRS will provide additional information on their web page when available. Please note that we will not consider economic impact payments as income for SSI recipients, and the payments are excluded from resources for 12 months.”

Will payee Representatives get the stimulus check

    • Ash

This is my question also. I’m a rep payee for my son and that’s all we really have going for us right now. No article I’ve seen, nor the treasury site itself , states what we need to do, if anything. And trying to get someone on the phone is like performing my own root canal.

TRUST ME I KNOW THE SYSTEM PEOPLE IVE BEEN AROUND THE BLOCK ONCE OR TWICE AND EVERYONE RECEIVING SSDI WILL MOST LIKELY HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL THEIR NORMALLY SCHEDULED PAY DATE TO RECEIVE THE STIMULUS CHECK. I JUST DONT WANT PEOPLE TO GET THEIR HOPES UP BECAUSE OF THE REPORTS OF CHECKS BEING DIRECT DEOPOSITED BY APRIL 9TH. IVE BEEN RIGHT ABOUT EVERYTHING ELSE ABOUT THIS EVEN WHEN I TOLD PEOPLE THEY MIGHT HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL SEPTEMBER TO GET THEIR CHECKS.
I KNOW TIMES ARE HARD AND ALOT OF PEOPLE ARE TAKING ADVANTAGE BY OVER CHARGING FOR SERVICES AND WE NEED THE MONEY BUT GOD IS ON OUR SIDE. IF YOU HAVE DIRECT DEPOSIT AND RECEIVE BENEFITS THE CHECK WILL BE THERE NEXT MONTH. TRY TO PRAY AND BE GRATEFUL FOR GODS MERCY. THAT WAY EVEN IF YOU CAN NOT SURVIVE THIS ECONOMIC AND HEALTH CRISIS AT LEAST YOU HAVE THE LORD TO GUIDE YOU HOME. AGAIN PEOPLE ON SS THOSE REPORTS ABOUT WHEN TO EXPECT CHECKS ARE BEING WORDED PURPOSELY TO EXCLUDE US IN THAT TIMELINE BECAUSE OTHERWISE THEY WOULD JUST AS EASILY SPECIFY OUR CHECKS WILL BE DIRECTLY DEPOSITED BEING AS OUR CHECKS ARE COMING DIRECTLY FROM THE TREASURY ITSELF AND NOT THE IRS SO IF THEY WERE PLANNING ON SENDING US THOSE DIRECT DEPOSITS ON THURSDAY THEY WOULD JUST SAY THAT BEING THAT ITS THE EASIEST STIMULUS CHECK TO SEND.
SO BE PRAYFUL AND BE WELL AND GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILIES AND MAY GOD BLESS OUR UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!!!!

    Hello Everyone,
I hope everyone is staying safe out there. I have a question? I get ssi as I have many many health issues, and my husband is unable to work due to his own ailments.
My question is, how will his stimulus money be sent?
Will it come with mine on my direct express card as a married couple? ?
Or will he have to do something different, we are confused as to how this will work, as we are married, but my income is all we have at the present moment.
    Thanks

Will i still receive a stimulus check even if they say i owe Social Security for an Overpayment issue?

    • LJL

I have same question, can’t find an answer anywhere. Ugh.

I receive SSDI, and know I should receive the $1200 stimulus, but I also have two dependents under the age of nine who receive monthly food stamps and cash assistance from the state. Since, I was already disabled when they were born, and received legal custody of the children, they were never filed on my income taxes while I worked. How will they receive their stimulus since the SSA page says these children would not receive their money, because they don’t have information on dependents who do not receive social security?

I also tried to file an EZ IRS Form, but it would not go through saying I didn’t need to file a tax return.

Does anyone know how the children will receive their stimulus?

  8. Kristina

I am permanently disabled because I have a mental illness. My mother and father jointly claimed me as a dependent on their 2018 taxes. I won’t be claimed as a dependent in 2019. I have received my 1099 for 2019. My parents have not filed their 2019 taxes yet. Again, they will not be claiming me as a dependent for the 2019 tax year. Does anyone know if I will receive a stimulus check? PS I live with my parents but they do not support me because I pay rent, $300 per month. I buy my own food too; my SSDI check is under the national poverty level-a little over 10,000 a year.. My mother and father are 75 years old and I have to help them with a third of the bill’s from year 2019 to until I get my own place.

    • Joe

I believe you’ll receive stimulus if you werent claimed for 2019.

      • Kristina

Thanks Joe. I hope so., even if get the amount of $500, I’d be grateful!

  9. Melissa

I have read so many articles and from what I gather is, I will receive a check. (I am on disability) what I am having trouble finding the answer to Is i have 2 children i claim on my disability and receive a small check for them each month. But because I do not file taxes my ex husband claims them each year. I have full custody and he see’s one child out of the 2 and has our child for one night, 3 weekends out of 4. Who gets the check for them is my question me or him?

    • Crystal H.

Ok Melissa you are on disability, so you will get $1,200 for you no matter if you file taxes or not. This money will be sent to where you receive your disability payments at. Now for your ex he will get the $500 for each child that is $1,000 for both of them. Because he files them on his taxes so that money can’t go to anyone else through the government eyes.

      • Melissa

Thank you, looks like I’ll just have to sue him for that money once the courts open because he will refuse to give it to me so he can spend it on himself. He shouldn’t be entitled to money to help for 2 children he barely sees. He most definitely doesn’t have extra expenses now that the kids are home from school like I do.

      • Melissa

Thank you, ill just have to sue him for that money once the courts open. He shouldn’t be entitled to free money to spend on himself when I’m the one who gained more expenses since the kids have been home from school.

Hey here is a concept, be thankful if your getting a stimulus check. Thank our congress and whomever made this happen. But please don’t make someone ,who isn’t feel less. I see some of these blogs and think ‘where did we go wrong ’ Please God , bless this nation
