I have tried to use my military address to get my ss info but it does not work for me. I have tried to do this several times over the past three (3) years. Any one out there have any advice?

    • V.V.

Thank you for your question, Mike. Sorry to hear you are having difficulties creating an account. The my Social Security authentication system requires address verification as one of the essential criteria for issuing an account. People with APO/FPO/DPO addresses can create an account overseas, but our system does not support registration and account creation for users with a foreign address yet. We recommend that individuals living outside the United Sates contact the nearest Federal Benefits Unit for assistance.

I need a CURRENT Replacement document – SSA 1099, where do I find out where I can get it?

    • K.O.

Hi, Phyllis. The SSA-1099 is mailed by January 31 each year. If for any reason you do not receive your SSA-1099 in the mail by then, starting on February 1, 2019, you can request a replacement SSA-1099/1042S for Tax Year 2018 by using your personal my Social Security account. If you are referring to your husband’s 1099 and it doesn’t arrive soon, you can visit your local Social Security office to request a copy. Thanks.

My SSA 1099 for last year , (2018) has not arrived as of January 24th. Is it possible to verify that it has been mailed OR to request a duplicate copy? Other friends have already received theirs. Thank you for your time.

    • V.V.

Hi Sally, thank you for using our blog to ask your question. Social Security staggers the mailing of the SSA-1099s in January to people who receive Social Security benefits. It shows the total amount of benefits you received from Social Security in the previous year so you know how much Social Security income to report to IRS on your tax return.

A replacement SSA-1099 or SSA-1042S is typically available for the previous tax year after February 1 using your my Social Security account. If you do not already have an account, you can create one. Once you are logged in to your account, select the “Replacement Documents” tab. If you are unable to create a my Social Security account or do not want to request it online, you may call us at 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778), Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. or you can contact your local Social Security office.

I am getting my aunt on Medicaid and the request has been made to get a copy of her latest SS statement. I am her Power of Attorney but see that I cannot set up an account for her. She has no email and currently resides in a skilled nursing facility, with partial dementia. How do I get a copy of her latest statement to provide Medicaid if only she can sign up for a SS statement? Thanks for any help you can give me.
