you know where to find usFor 80 years, Social Security has been there for you and your family when you need us most. And, finding us at our field offices, where you can speak with an employee face-to-face, is easier than ever!

Our handy Field Office Locator is accessible from your computer and mobile device. On the website, you can enter your zip code to find the address, phone number and hours of the Social Security office closest to you. You can also use this tool to see a map and get directions; if you’re on your mobile device, it will even give you turn-by-turn directions.

Since you are already online, you could skip the traffic and lines by taking advantage of our other online features, too. Check out What You Can Do Online, where you’ll find that many of our services are just a click away!

For example, you use the Retirement Estimator to estimate future benefits, apply for Social Security benefits online and sign up for a personal my Social Security account. Setting up a personal my Social Security account is convenient and secure. You’ll have access to your Social Security Statement, and if you already receive benefits, you can view and print your verification letter and manage your benefits.

Some people prefer doing business in person, though, and that’s why our offices are there! Our employees are passionate about providing you with the best service possible, and we’re proud of our long history of doing so. When you visit us, whether in person or online, we’re always ready to help!

      Disability.

If you do not want to apply for benefits online, or you need to speak to us for any other reason, you can schedule, reschedule or cancel an appointment by:
      •Calling us at 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778) between 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday; or

i retired at 47 disability my husband is 65 retired in june this year his retirement age is 66, but has been approved for disability due to heart condition, will my check increase? or do i have to wait till i’m 60+ ? Thank you so much.

    • V.V.

Hi Isabel, thank you for your questions. For you to qualify for spouse’s benefits on your husband’s record, you must be 62 years old. If you are 62 or older and qualify for your own benefit, you must file for that first. If benefits as a spouse are higher than your own benefit, you will get a combination of benefits equaling the higher spouse benefit. Visit our Retirement Planner: Benefits for Your Spouse for more information.

How do you find out the status of a Medicare Part B application. I submitted my application two weeks ago and it still shows no information at both the SSA site and at the Medicare.gov site. When I call the SSA office it is a 2 hour wait. I am still working and I am unable to wait on the phone for hold times of that length. There is no “chat service” on the SSA site. The Medicare.gov site “chat service” says they cannot help me because SSA hasn’t processed my request.

  7. John R.

All your web pages should have a clearly visible series of links to my local SSA office where I can make an appointment.
