you know where to find usFor 80 years, Social Security has been there for you and your family when you need us most. And, finding us at our field offices, where you can speak with an employee face-to-face, is easier than ever!

Our handy Field Office Locator is accessible from your computer and mobile device. On the website, you can enter your zip code to find the address, phone number and hours of the Social Security office closest to you. You can also use this tool to see a map and get directions; if you’re on your mobile device, it will even give you turn-by-turn directions.

Since you are already online, you could skip the traffic and lines by taking advantage of our other online features, too. Check out What You Can Do Online, where you’ll find that many of our services are just a click away!

For example, you use the Retirement Estimator to estimate future benefits, apply for Social Security benefits online and sign up for a personal my Social Security account. Setting up a personal my Social Security account is convenient and secure. You’ll have access to your Social Security Statement, and if you already receive benefits, you can view and print your verification letter and manage your benefits.

Some people prefer doing business in person, though, and that’s why our offices are there! Our employees are passionate about providing you with the best service possible, and we’re proud of our long history of doing so. When you visit us, whether in person or online, we’re always ready to help!

I got some written correspondence from SS. I have some questions about the papers. I am trying to make an appointment with the office in Helena, Montana. I haven’t found any where on your website to do so.

I have filled out a form for replacement of my SS Card. I now need an address to send it to. My SS# is *** – ** – ***. I live at 1752 Crooked Creek Lane, Germantown, TN 38138.

Hi Patsy. Please realize you may not need a replacement card. You will rarely need to show it. Knowing your Social Security number is what is important. However, if you must get a replacement card, and you live in one of the States shown on the map on this webpage, we have good news! You can use your personal my Social Security account to get a replacement Social Security card. We hope this helps.

I need a local Medicare number for Oregon. I’m out of the country and cannot dial 800 numbers from here. Do you have a local number I can call? Thank you.

Hi, Joan. Since you are living outside of the U.S. you can contact your local Federal Benefits Unit for any assistance related to Social Security benefits. Also, our Office of International Operations home page provides more information to assist our customers living abroad. We hope this helps.

I have a friend that is receiving SS Disability payments of $760.00 a month. He asked me if I could contact you all and ask you all these following questions:
    1. If he is receiving disability can he go back to work because the $760.00 a month barely covers his rent and groceries. He is receiving help with $160.00 a month for groceries but that is not enough.

    2. If he work as self employment can he lose out on he health coverage (Medicaid/Medicare) with SSA? He doesn’t expect to make alot but it will help out with his needs to survive.

why is it so hard to make an appointment at a local office?
There are no options to schedule appointment at local office. When you call there’s an hour wait to speak to someone at the local and the main offices.
