Earlier this week, The White House issued national guidance regarding Opening Up America Again. We are evaluating this information as it relates to our agency and are continuing to closely monitor the COVID-19 situation across the nation. In fulfilling Social Security’s mission, when we reopen offices to the public, we will provide a safe environment for both the people we serve and our employees.

As we continue to develop our plans, our offices will remain closed to the public for face-to-face service, and our employees will continue to work remotely and provide services to the public. We will provide updates moving forward and post updated information on the status of our offices, by state, at our website. Our agency will provide these updates directly, and please disregard other sources of information regarding the status of our offices.

We will continue to provide the vital service the public relies on. Please visit our website for more information about our services during the pandemic.

Why the older in Puerto Rico that receive SS are treated like illegals when we are citizens of the U.S.A.
The Congress doesn’t care about us !! We haven’t receive the money !! Maybe in December !! But for many of us life will be too late!!

Before you said we don’t have to go to the IRS page? I’m on SSDI and really small SSI because I’m below Federal Poverty Level. And I understand that you have a year? For what so they can take out taxes and I never received enough for taxes and won’t they then start removing taxs from my SSDI going forward? I don’t trust this system I’ve already lost some of my SNAP because I got a raise of 12$ so DHS took it back! There’s no way to live a comfortable life with either SSDI and now I’m a senior but I understand that amount doesn’t change regardless? What if I applied for my Ex Husband social security? Do you think I’d get 10$ extra?

I just started to receive benefits in February, will that qualify me to get my $1,200 through my monthly direct deposit?

    • Vonda V.

Hi Dan, thank you for your question. If you filed a tax return for 2019 or 2018 the IRS began issuing electronic economic impact payments on or about April 15 to people who received a tax refund electronically, and to the same account as the tax refund.

If you did not get an electronic refund or no refund, the IRS will send your payment, and payment for any qualifying children listed on your tax return, by mail at the same time. Payments will be issued on a staggered basis beginning in late April. You may be able to use the IRS’ Get My Payment tool to provide or update your bank information to receive an electronic payment more quickly. For a child not listed on your tax return, you must wait to file a tax year 2020 tax return to receive the $500 payment.

If you did not file a tax return for 2019 or 2018, you may use the IRS’ Non-Filer: Enter Payment Info Here tool to receive your own $1,200 payment and $500 payment for qualifying children. You may only enter non-Direct Express bank account information for direct deposit, or leave bank information empty to receive a paper check by mail.

Received individual impact payments for adults but not for children even though used payment tool at IRS in time. Also children receive SSDI child benefits and already have SSA 1099 on file?? No one or place to call to rectify.
