Earlier this week, The White House issued national guidance regarding Opening Up America Again. We are evaluating this information as it relates to our agency and are continuing to closely monitor the COVID-19 situation across the nation. In fulfilling Social Security’s mission, when we reopen offices to the public, we will provide a safe environment for both the people we serve and our employees.

As we continue to develop our plans, our offices will remain closed to the public for face-to-face service, and our employees will continue to work remotely and provide services to the public. We will provide updates moving forward and post updated information on the status of our offices, by state, at our website. Our agency will provide these updates directly, and please disregard other sources of information regarding the status of our offices.

We will continue to provide the vital service the public relies on. Please visit our website for more information about our services during the pandemic.

For how long will my wife and children will be without social security number because they came into US on February 28 2020 and should have stayed for 20 days in US before they could apply for the Social Security Number. So by that time your office have closed because of Covid-19 and we mail application which they turn down simply because it is their first time of application. When will office your open since virtually all the government offices have open why do you refuse to open. This is really hurting , they couldn’t do anything. Please find a solution to this may you devise a means to help us out . Thanks

when will the social security office open on third street Memphis tn.?

My application for Spousal Retirement Benefit and Medicare (I am eligible from 1st July 2020), is still in process. I have been calling the local office regularly, more than twice a week. Now I see the location of my application at PC4 (processing center) at Chicago. How many work days it takes for PC to send me a Medicare card. I do not have any other insurance and in this period of COVID, it is scary to be without any coverage.

  10. Alan C.

I applied for Medicare since I will turn 65 in August.
I got a reply from SSA directing me to mail my original birth certificate and passport. Same directive specifically said NOT to mail any foreign document. I was born overseas of American parents. So, which directive to follow, mail the original birth certificate or don’t?
