Beginning today, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will issue Economic Impact Payments (EIP) to approximately 1.4 million SSI recipients with representative payees and 10.4 million Social Security beneficiaries with representative payees.

The IRS will issue the EIPs via direct deposit and Direct Express starting today, May 22, to the same direct deposit account or Direct Express card as the recipient’s monthly Social Security or SSI payment. Paper check EIPs will be mailed starting May 27.

Visit our website to learn about EIPs and representative payees. You can find the eligibility requirements and other information about the EIPs at the IRS’ Economic Impact Payment Information Center.

Please help! I receive SSD, and have custody of my grandson (13yrs). I went to the non-filers tool, and it errored that someone had claimed him on their tax refund. He has lived with me since 2018. So, worried that it was a mess, I went back in and only put my information.
Suzanne Williams-Kiebzak (Caleb Williams). Thank you.

Is the EIP debit card for real or a scam?

    • Anon

According to the IRS website, many payments will in fact come loaded on a prepaid Visa card.

Hi Merlin, thank you for using our blog. The Department of the Treasury is starting to send Economic Impact Payments by prepaid debit card, instead of by paper check. EIP Card recipients can make purchases, get cash from in-network ATMs, and transfer funds to their personal bank account without incurring any fees. Additional information is available in Treasury’s press release. EIP Card recipients can read more about their debit card at http://www.eipcard.com. Please note that the EIP Card is not the same as the Direct Express Debit Card on which many Social Security and SSI beneficiaries receive their monthly benefit payment.

Ok, good news! After the get my payment tool has never worked for me, it finally has! According to the IRS, there will be another round of scheduled payments going out direct deposit May 28. I figured I had fallen through the cracks, or been swept up in a glitch they had talked about and would just never receive anything. I am a SSDI recepient, so keep the faith.
True, they obviously aren’t paying the poorest first, but there may be light at the end of this crazy tunnel! Keep up the hope, and maybe eventually we will all receive our much needed money!

    Do I receive this payment

  9. James I.

I am on SSD and am still waiting for a direct deposit to my bank account. I should have received it already . Sadly you can’t reach anyone by phone as they don’t answer. I was to have payment by the end of April according to my annual gross income ??? Any accurate deposit date would be nice.

Keep checking every day with the get my payment. It will not show anything until your payment date is scheduled. They could have mentioned that and not let people become so upset.
