Feb. 12th and still no form received. Have been locked out of my acct. for reason no one can explain. SS advised me to go to local SS office; what a joke as they do not take appts for this type of issue. Went and it was standing room only/wall-to-wall. Being handicapped I was unable to wait.
Any suggestions on what to do?
A.C.
Hi, Gerri. We are sorry to hear about your experience and your condition. We encourage you to work with your local Social Security office. We hope this is resolved soon.
Gerri W.
Hard to work with folks who seem uninterested. Local office is useless unless you have an issue they take appointments for an I’ve been advised my situation is walk-in only and wait for up to a couple hours. Not possible when you have my health issues. Appreciate the response but it was no help.

My mother passed away in August. I am having her mail forwarded to my home address. I am the executor of her will. I need the form to file her taxes. Will it be forwarded? If not how can I get the 1099. She did not have an online account. How can I get the document online? It seems like you can only open an account in your own name.
A.C.
Hi, Patricia. We are sorry to hear about your loss. The SSA-1099 is mailed to the last address in our records and is intended for the spouse or executor of the deceased. If you did not receive the benefit statement, you will need to contact your local Social Security office with proof of death and proof of executorship. An SSA-1099 can also be given to someone receiving benefits on the deceased beneficiary’s record such as a spouse, parent, or child of the deceased. If you need more information, call our toll-free number at 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778) and ask a representative for assistance. We hope this helps.

I am frustrated, confused. Does Social Security issue 1099R that can be used for 2022 tax returns, will it be available on-line, or do they mail it via the Postal Service? The website is unclear and says only that I can get a replacement 1099 – I do not think that’s the document I need for taxes. OPM, my banks, credit unions all give me 1099Rs. I’m still on hold waiting for a person on the SSA phone number – 25 minutes+ now. Sure hope I can get an answer before April 15th!
A.C.
Hi, Nancy. We are sorry to hear about your frustration. Form-1099R is to report distributions from a retirement pension such as a 401K or an IRA. You will need to reach out to your retirement plan or financial institution. Thanks.

WHY CAN’T WE DOWNLOAD AND PRINT OUR 1099 FORMS ?
PLEASE POST A LINK ON THE SS SITE !
A.C.
Hi, Virginia. Thanks for your question. The SSA-1099 is mailed by January 31 each year. If for any reason you do not receive your SSA-1099 in the mail by then, starting on February 1, 2023, you can request a replacement SSA-1099/1042S for Tax Year 2022 by visiting your personal my Social Security account. We hope this helps.

I received mine a few weeks ago,but my husband hasn’t got his.

It is Feb 1, 2023. I just checked my SSA account online and the 1099 for 2021 is there but nothing for 2022. When can I print that out?
Also have not yet received my 1099 in the mail.
Bob O.
I clicked on the field for the 2021 form and found the new one for 2022 was what was actually available. So, it appears it is there but the name of the field to click was not updated.
My experience, yours may be different.
Carolene C.
The mailing date for the SSA-1099 is well advertised, but I would like to know when the form will be available on the My Social Security web site (for download / printing).

i need to download my 2021 SSA statement, but the link to the tax forms are gone with this new release. can you please help out? this is urgent as i need to provide this asap to someone
A.C.
Hi, Leyla. Thanks for your question. It sounds like you are referring to the SSA-1099, a tax form Social Security mails each year in January to people who receive Social Security benefits. For years prior to the last year, you can call us at 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778) between 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. to speak to one of our representatives for assistance. You can also contact your local Social Security office. We hope this helps.

Clearly, the SSA should revise the information on their website regarding a “printable” SSA 1099. It is not available online and never has been. I did not receive mine this year, and now have to wait until February to request another one to be sent to me in the slow postal mail system that is unreliable at most! I wanted to have my taxes done by now. Please remove the information that states you can download and print the SSA 1099 form to stop us all from wondering what we are doing wrong on the site. No clarification why it is not available is very frustrating.
Janet M.
I totally agree, I just tried figuring last night out why it was not even listed in my account! Did not know until today that SSA does not even mail out the 1099s until January 31st!!!
Gary
Since all of the records are electronic, there is no excuse for the SSA to not be able to electronically generate a 1099 with a week of the end of the year. Most employers can do it!
Joan P.
Why aren’t the questions regarding the release of the 2022 SSA-1099 forms being answered here so I wouldn’t have to repeat the question. It is now 22 January 2023 & I am unable to even find a link to the form on mySSA site. Filing starts tomorrow. How about releasing the downloadable SSA-1099 for 2023 while we all wait for the mailed copy? Thank You
Fred
I agree. Its ridiculous we have to wait so long for these statements since payments are fixed and so are deductions.
Claude B.
You r absolutley correct Ssa 1099 for tax 2022 not available when log in to my account n no one is answering same question

Your answer conflicts with the last bullet point under “If you receive benefits, you can use your personal my Social Security account to:”
– “Print your SSA-1099”
We should be able to download or print this form, but your answer indicates that we can only “request a replacement”, which can take up to ten days to receive by snail mail.
Please let us know our options. Using snail mail in 2023 is a very poor option.

I’ve only been on social security since March of 2022 and I already know they are one of the most inefficient and raggedy govt agencies in existence. Heck, my local office is still not open since covid was over! You’ve got to call and make an appointment to be seen or transact everything online or by phone. They send you letters that no one you speak to at their phone numbers can adequately explain, not to mention the long hold times and numerous “transfers”, ultimately getting “cut off”. The website right now says to comeback later…smh. Nobody’s filing taxes with that form until Feb because you’re not getting it until then…slackers, smh Apparently they wait to mail them on the govt deadline-Jan 31. I prepare taxes and not a single one of my clients has received their 1099SSA yet.
