Submitting Fraud Allegations to the OIG

The SSA Office of the Inspector General (OIG) has determined that, due to a computer error, it did not receive any fraud allegations submitted through its online fraud-reporting form from 3:30 p.m. on Monday, September 10 to 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 12, 2018.

If you submitted an allegation during this time period, please re-submit your allegation online, or you may call the OIG’s fraud hotline at 1-800-269-0271. Thank you.

    I get frequent calls saying my social security has been suspended. What’s going on?

    I received a call regarding my SS# and I gave them my name and date of birth. Should I worry?

    I received what I suspect is a fraudulent call on my voice mail. The message said my SSN had been “compromised” and was being “suspended” due to some “fraudulent and suspicious activities. It further stated that “legal enforcement action” would be taken if the call was not returned. The call originated from Burbank, CA.
    The number showing was 818-748-6027.

    I received a phone call reguarding my social security number saying that I have 25 open bank accounts between California and texas and that they were cancelling my social number and I need to get a new number

    I received a phone call stating they were a deputy with the SS office & my SS# may have been compromised near the Southern Texas Border. To confirm, I was to press “1” to talk to the deputy. I hung up. I understand this is a fraudulent call.

    I received a threatening phone call regarding my ss number. if I was elderly or didn’t have full capacity of mind I would have possibly believed their threats. they claim to be ss officers , and ask you to respond immediately or face penalties or arrest .they want you to call before they take action against you. I didn’t fall for it, but it still makes you nervous.
