Given the increasing food prices and it’s effects on seniors and their Social Security fixed income, another important page for 2022 is how to qualify for food stamps benefits. Nearly two thirds of seniors who qualify do not apply

I retired 12/31/2019 and received corporate severance for 2020 which was shown as Earned Income. Effective 2021, I have limited income from p/t work. I’m notified in November that IRMAA Medicare Part B determination will be substantially reduced based on 2020 tax return. I’ve faxed all supporting documentation 2x to my local SS office along with the completed SSA-44 form and called local several times, can’t get through. Just rec’d SSA mail I need to submit supporting evidence & SSA-44 form. What can I do to get this resolved?

I applied in March 2021 for my retirement income to start in September 2021. Early May it was 2/3rds approved. Nothing has changed in “my social security” since then.
I’m in the UK, can’t get hold of anyone in the benefits department in the London embassy, have tried calling the US office only to be told all my paperwork is in order.
Would just like an idea how long this will take. Does anyone know?
The challenge is that you have to be retired to apply but then there’s no income coming in. I’m plowing through my reserves!
Anyone have any ideas who else to contact

I too applied for SS in August 2021 and have repeatedly attempted to contact the FBU in Frankfurt to get an update on my SS application. I have tried calling during their published hours (0900-1100; M,T, and Th) no less than forty (40) times (5 times this week alone) since November 2021 and nobody answers. I’ve written as well and again no reply. Calling the U.S. SSA hasn’t worked either as all I do is wait while on hold – regardless of which day of the week or time that I call. Is the SSA IG an option because this is getting a tad frustrating…
