I am trying to receive disability and was told by an attorneys office to call you.
V.V.
Hi Amy. We pay disability benefits through two programs: the Social Security Disability Insurance program (SSDI) and the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program. To qualify for SSDI benefits, you must have worked long enough and recently enough in jobs covered by Social Security (usually within the last 10 years). The (SSI) program is a needs based program that gives cash assistance to disabled individuals with limited income and resources. We pay disability benefits to people who are unable to work because of a medical condition that is expected to last one year or more or to end in death. If you think you may be eligible to receive disability benefits and would like to apply, you can use our online application.
Applying online for disability benefits offers several advantages:
• You can start your disability claim immediately. There is no need to wait for an appointment.
• You can apply from the convenience of your home, or on any computer; and
• You can avoid trips to a Social Security office, saving you time and money.
If you are unable to file online, please call us at 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778) or your local office to make an appointment. Please look for the general inquiry telephone number at the Social Security Office Locator. The number may appear under Show Additional Office Information. Please be aware that our call wait times are longer than normal.
For more information visit our “Frequently Asked Questions” web page on disability. Thanks!

My provider is requesting a Medicaire card to enroll me in Benefits. How do I get a card online. My 65 th birthday is in Sept 2020
V.V.
Hi Cynthia, thanks for using our blog. If you already get Social Security benefits, we’ll automatically enroll you in Medicare Hospital Insurance (Part A) and Medical Insurance (Part B). We’ll mail you all the information you need, including a Medicare card, a few months before you become eligible.
If you don’t get Social Security benefits and are not ready to apply for them yet, you should sign up for Medicare three months before your 65th birthday.
The easiest way to apply for Medicare is by using our online application.
Check out our Frequently Asked Questions web page for additional details regarding Medicare.
Gertrudes C.
Hello, I would like to report the death of my husband, how do I go about that, and what form should I use for such reporting.
My name is Gertrudes Calaguas and my husband is Amado C Calaguas, who passed away on March 17, 2020, at Porac, Pampanga, Philippines. Due to Covid 19, and my health condition, I was not able to attend his own funeral, and the daughter of my husband that manage his funeral, in her favor for unknown personal reasons, kept the Death Certificates and refused to send me a copy. I recently requested an authenticated copy online from NATIONAL STATISTIC OFFICE, Philippines. Also, his Social Security benefits, have been directly deposited into our account at Community First Credit Union, Guam for this month of May.
With the above concerned, await your advise. Thank you.

I will turn 66 in November how much money can I earn this year without being penalized
V.V.
Hi Donna, thank you for your question. If you are turning your full retirement age (66) in 2020, the limit on earnings is $48,600 but we only count earnings before the month your reach full retirement age. Beginning with the month you reach full retirement age, your earnings no longer reduce your benefits, no matter how much you earn.
