I am needing a replacement card for my daughter. Her father will not give hers back to me claiming he does not have it. What do I need to do, and what information do I need to bring to get one made?

I need a replacement SS card to apply for a PA driver’s license; i.e., moving to PA from another state.

As instructed, I set up a SS account to apply for a replacement card. Upon completion, ‘account’ informed me ‘it’ could not provide a replacement, that I should contact my local SS office.

However, my local office informed me they were closed because of COVID and I should submit a SS form 5. Form 5 requires forms of ID, which I can provide (Passport, Mil ID card, etc.) but states ‘Do not submit original documents’ and suggests submitting certified copies.

Phone calls to get an appointment at my local to obtain cert-copies have been met with a succession of very long periods on hold, disconnects, and more very long periods on hold; never did get through.

There must be another way, a better way; please advise.

Hi Charles, thanks for using our blog. You can call your local office and request that we mail you an SSN printout instead of a replacement Social Security card. Unfortunately, we are unable to process replacement Social Security card requests by phone at this time.

I don’t have a credit card and I can’t create a “MyAccount” on my phone. I came to the library to try and print the form I need to fill it out and send it in with the necessary documents. Please allow me to do this.
