    How can I get
    Approved for Social Security benefits

  7. Sylvia

I called Social Security today and after waiting over one hour, Wanda in Maryland came on the line. She told me at least three times that if I don’t fill out the application and send it in right away, I can not go back to it to complete it. She said, if I try to send it in, it will not have information on it. She was very rude and would not allow me to tell her that I had read several times on the Social Security site that it IS possible to return to the application to finish it (like it says above) — using the re-entry number. It was a very unpleasant experience, talking to her. Things went downhill from there. I kept my voice modulated, but just said, “It seems like you’re not having a good. day.” She said she she was having a very good day. What a sharp contrast from the customer service I’m used to getting. It seems like people who answer the phone at Social Security should try to be pleasant.

there is no access. I need to replace a SS card. I went to the local office and the wait was over 2 hours and then the office closed. I went on line to try and schedule an appointment but that does not seem possible. I tried to set up an account and as I was entering personal information, I was kicked out. What else can I do???

    • L.A.

Hi Donald. Please remember that knowing your number is what is important. You will rarely need to show your card, but if you need information on how to obtain a replacement Social Security card using your personal my Social Security account. If the State in which you live is not yet participating in the electronic Social Security replacement card, please go to here to find out what you need to obtain a replacement Social Security card. We hope this helps.
