Per IRS, we did not get a Stimulus check because someone claimed my husband and me as DEPENDENTS on their tax returns! IdentityTheft! Now we don’t know if the second round of checks will be taken as well! Trying to be patient with IRS. But, we are now facing a new worry!
Will our monthly Social Security checks be affected? PLEASE help us!
    Call me at 5086659763, please!

    Good morning
I hope everything is going well with you and your family
Can you help me to know how may I apply for my social security card
    Here in Orlando Florida
I need to do that but the office is close then I don’t how may I do that.

    best regards

    • Vonda V.

Hi Claudiane, thanks for using our blog. First, realize you may not need a replacement card. You will rarely need to show it. Knowing your Social Security number is what is important. However, if you must get a replacement card, you may be able to apply online. Check out our Frequently Asked Questions web page for details on how to apply for a replacement Social Security card. If you cannot request a replacement card online, call your local office and request that we mail you an SSN printout instead of a replacement Social Security card. We are unable to process replacement Social Security card requests by phone at this time.

My friend is scared to go back to work because he is afraid of getting COVID-19. They won’t pay him unemployment. Can he get Social Security disability for anxiety or agoraphobia?

    • Vonda V.

Hi Tony. We pay disability benefits through two programs: the Social Security Disability Insurance program (SSDI) and the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program. To qualify for SSDI benefits, you must have worked long enough and recently enough in jobs covered by Social Security (usually within the last 10 years). The (SSI) program is a needs based program that gives cash assistance to disabled individuals with limited income and resources. We pay disability benefits to people who are unable to work because of a medical condition that is expected to last one year or more or to end in death. If your friend thinks he may be eligible to receive disability benefits and would like to apply, he can use our online application.

I am 64 yrs old receiving survivors benefits. I want to retire from my stressful job at a pharmacy. Should I file for benefits as a spouse (he earned more) or do I continue as a survivor? How can I know which is more? I have 2 adult disabled children receiving benefits. I need to know how much I can plan on.
