Coronavirus (COVID-19): Important Information about Social Security Services
Reading Time: 1 MinuteLast Updated: February 21, 2023
All local Social Security offices will be closed to the public for in-person service starting Tuesday, March 17, 2020. This decision protects the population we serve—older Americans and people with underlying medical conditions—and our employees during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. However, we are still able to provide critical services.

I just want to say, I have never seen a post this long before, which references to the first question and reply made. The government is still open, the offices are closed to the public. They are doing this so, as it helps promote distant socializing. As of right now, no definitive answer has been made on whether people on Social Security will receive a stimulus check or deposit. Keep watching the local news as well as national news, and checking the ssa.gov website. Oh and one last thing, Blessings to all of you, and stay healthy by using distant socializing.

Honestly I think some people are overreacting to this virus and others need to be held responsible for their actions, like the lady in who thought it would be a funny prank to cough on 34k worth of food in her local grocery store. She and the teenagers and others who do stuff like that should be fined and put in jail for what they are doing, people are already afraid and people are pulling pranks like this? For what? Its not funny.

I just read this dated today 🙂
Q: I’m on social security or disability, do I still get a check?
Yes. The Washington Post reports that people on Social Security are eligible to receive the relief payment and do not need to file a tax return. The federal government will be able to send them a payment via the usual way they get their Social Security payment. Retirees and people on disability are both eligible for the special payment.

Thank you for this information.

Excuse me – What’s with the “That’s Rude…no it’s not” stuff. Come on folks, all of us are under stress…please be kind
The O.
Yes it was terribly rude, haven’t you noticed that hundreds of bloggers in here are traumatized by this. I want to marry her so I can legally abuse her.

During covid19, If your husband passes away, how will Social Security know if they don’t answer the phone when you call to tell them? I need to get my husbands s.s to live on.
Thank you
Tom
There have been a lot of BOTS, LIARS, TABLOID WEBSITES, and TROLLS spreading misinformation to create chaos and upset people.
THE SENATE says that those on SSI WILL GET A CHECK.
Their word IS LAW.
Section 2201 of the ‘Section By Section’ outline of the CARES Act (Stimulus Bill) SPECIFICALLY states:
“Section 2201. 2020 recovery rebates for individualsAll U.S. residents with adjusted gross income up to $75,000 ($150,000 married), who are not a dependent of another taxpayer and have a work eligible social security number, are eligible for the full $1,200 ($2,400 married) rebate. In addition, they are eligible for an additional $500 per child. This is true even for those who have no income, as well as those whose income comes entirely from non-taxable means-tested benefit programs, such as SSI benefits.”
THE LAST SENTENCE says it all.
Now, PLEASE stop asking over and over and over again and READ!
Also, STOP listening to bots, trolls, and other FALSE sources of legal information!
Once the House passes the bill, each of us will receive a LETTER in the mail telling us of the check 15 DAYS before it is due to either arrive or be direct-deposited (however you receive your funds).
ANYONE SAYING ANYTHING DIFFERENT IS LYING.
That is all.
The O.
“The Senates word is Law” ? OK, I’ll bite… The Senate passed laws a long time ago that never has been repealed….For example: You cannot enter the USA without permission (A passport and Visa is the permission). So if you enter the USA without permission you are breaking the law. If you break out laws you are Illegal. Democrats do not recognize the concepts of laws so that is how they get away with Sanctuary Cities and Catch and Release and marrying their own brother.

Racist old sticky frog, people like you need to get Coronavirus and be sent back to Europe were you belong! This Continent “AMERICA” belongs to the indigenous, you and your president are the real illegal aliens!
The O.
It may be difficult to get back to Europe where I came from 400 years ago but I would have to slice that 44% Pueblo Indian that is part of me. But I do agree with you 100% the Chinese, Iranians Mexicans, Canadians, British, Koreans, Japanese, etc etc that do not allow foreigners to enter their countries during this pandemic are all racists. That “You are a racist” comment that the demonrats use no longer works, The Greatest leader in the history of the World, Donald Trump, will defeat the racist democrat agenda. What we are now witnessing is two things: 1. The disengagment of the Chinese choke hold on our economy and the last days of the former great Democrat party. Remember it was a Democrat JFK that said “Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country” (Plosie, Shoomer, Madler, Wassergate Shultz, Pochontas, etc.) want the Government to rule every aspect of our lives: “ask what your country can give to you to you”.
