All local Social Security offices will be closed to the public for in-person service starting Tuesday, March 17, 2020. This decision protects the population we serve—older Americans and people with underlying medical conditions—and our employees during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. However, we are still able to provide critical services.

At this time, no law has been passed that calls for Social Security to issue any new payments.       And by the looks of the article people on SSI will NOT be getting a stimulus check just SSD

        The article that you posted doesn’t have anything in it about Ssdi that I found. It just talked about low income people but that doesn’t necessarily mean those on ssdi. Correct me if I’m wrong.

          “For Those On Social Security or SSDI

          For those on Social Security as part of retirement or through the Social Security Disability Insurance program can have their Social Security Administration data used directly to claim the stimulus check – no tax return will be required.

          For Those On SSI

          However, beneficiaries of Supplemental Security Income, which often benefits old or disabled people in poverty, are not included in the current version of the bill.”

    what about if you have bank $2000 asset limit? the stimulus sends you over, won’t you lose your ssd,ssi, medical insurance, food stamps and such?

    So lets go over this again:

    – the stimulus is 2T NOT 6.
    – THERE IS NO “SECOND CHECK”. What you are getting next month is it unless congress elects to authorize more
    – SSDI recipients WILL be getting the full 1,200. SSI may be SOL unless they file a 2019 tax return.

    Got it?

    As some of you may be reading now, COVID 19 stimulus will NOT include those on SSI. You will continue to receive your check as usual. This is how your elected leaders think is best for our economy to recover. Thank you.

      STOP spreading misinformation and READ the Section By Section outline of the CARES bill.

      Section 2201 SPECIFICALLY SAYS: “Section 2201. 2020 recovery rebates for individualsAll U.S. residents with adjusted gross income up to $75,000 ($150,000 married), who are not a dependent of another taxpayer and have a work eligible social security number, are eligible for the full $1,200 ($2,400 married) rebate. In addition, they are eligible for an additional $500 per child. This is true even for those who have no income, as well as those whose income comes entirely from non-taxable means-tested benefit programs, such as SSI benefits.”

      LOOK VERY CLOSELY at that LAST SENTENCE. And PLEASE stop spreading this misinformation. I don’t know what people get out of doing this to others!

    I just saw on google and Facebook that the bill has passed. I saw that those on benefits already will also get extra 200.00 a month than I found this page. I scrolled and scrolled threw childish nonsense and still nothing from a caseworker. This is a page to help people and get information from social security, and from others. It is not a place to fight, and be childish. What about our older adults who can not work or get any benefits because they’re stuck in the middle guidelines to get or not get social security. Will they get any help?

      It’s all detailed here!! Read it and it will answer everyone’s questions!! There is NOT A $200 increase in their checks. It’s going by WORKING income and TAX returns. Looks like SSD is included but NOT SSI. That’s how I interpret it.

      Once again you have to read or listen people. I realize it’s easier to ask someone else but, if you want facts read it yourself or listen to the news.

        Lisa, don’t get so huffy about this, their is no evidence/statement that actually says people who receive SSI won’t get a check, the whole stimulous is bullshit…it’s lining the pockets of Pelosi, Schumer… it’s supposed to be for health, medical supplies and of course the American people not an opera or kennedy center or anything else…I hope Trump doesn’t sign it and doesn’t go through. The Dems are skirting around the issue.

    As for the $2 trillion stimulus package Most likely the main ones who will recitative it those who need it least and exclude those who the help wold be akin to a God send in their life (the rich get richer the poor get poorer as always) Politicians have little to no real concern for citizens that are on low income or no income level they are more concerned with brownie pouts from citizens who make a lot of money and so pay a lot of taxes So they will be they first consideration on the $2 trillion stimulus package

      BILLY, Your wrong this time. The rich will get less or nothing! It’s income-based so the needed will get the help this time. Also, unemployment will be raised and extended if I am reading it correctly. This time the little guy is making out! And it looks like those on SSD will get the help as well. Also, those with children at home will get extra help. Those are the one’s who need it most. Those who have lost their jobs, the people who work for themselves, freelancers ect…. Even Uber drivers!     I found this place with a search for …how long will social security be viable with the coronavirus impact…what I found was barely worth the time to read because senior adults are acting like children and using the forum as if it was facebook…

    With the lack of the support of the employed the structure of Social Security comes into question as the resources are finite.

    I saw questions that can not be answered at this time as there is no active program for stimulus. It is still a pipe dream only supported by political lip service. If and when this nations managers agree then ask the questions.

    Of course Social Security would be in much better shape if the GOVERNMENT repaid the over 3 trillion dollars they have excised over the years…

      I strongly agree with you. I can’t believe that the government was allowed to steal our SSDI funds. This is all so crazy. I need to put a suit on and have my hair cut nice and learn to talk like a silver tongue devil and then stuff my pocket with millions of dollars.
